2 Key Democrats Come Out And Say It: Trump Has 'Some Kind Of Dementia'

Two key Democratic figures this week said that President Donald Trump may be suffering from dementia. Illinois Governor JB Pritzker and Senator Ruben Gallego of Arizona each made the accusation during separate appearances. “This is a man who’s suffering dementia,” Pritzker told the Chicago Tribune on Tuesday as he slammed the president for sending the National Guard into “blue” cities.“This is a man who has something stuck in his head. He can’t get it out of his head. He doesn’t read. He doesn’t know anything that’s up to date. It’s just something in the recesses of his brain that is effectuating to have him call out these cities,” he said.“And then, unfortunately, he has the power of the military, the power of the federal government to do his bidding, and that’s what he’s doing.” Pritzker made a similar comment during an event on Tuesday hosted by the Minnesota Star Tribune, where he was asked why the president is sending the National Guard into blue cities. “Aside from the fact that he’s out of his mind and has dementia?” he said. “It’s clear to me that he is targeting Democratic cities, blue cities, and especially blue cities in blue states. It’s clear to me that he’s targeting Democratic cities, especially blue cities in blue states.” pic.twitter.com/XnvLZ34gCR— Marco Foster (@MarcoFoster_) October 7, 2025Last week, Pritzker said there is something “genuinely wrong” with Trump.“It appears that Donald Trump not only has dementia set in, but he’s copying tactics of Vladimir Putin,” he said, according to CBS News. “Sending troops into cities, thinking that that’s some sort of proving ground for war, or that indeed there’s some sort of internal war going on in the United States is just, frankly, inane and I’m concerned for his health.” He said the 25th Amendment ― which authorizes the removal of a president due to disability ― “ought to be invoked.”Meanwhile, Senator Gallego, who last week called Trump an “idiot,” was even more direct in a new interview. Eric Garcia, Washington bureau chief for The Independent, said Gallego was asked about Trump’s claim that his administration is negotiating “right now” with Democrats amid an ongoing shutdown of the federal government: Ruben Gallego on if Trump is talking to Ds:“The President clearly has some kind of dementia, so I think there's a he's probably talking to himself, or think he's talking to a Democrat, but I sincerely doubt that that's actually he's actually physically talking to a Democrat.“— Eric Michael Garcia (@EricMGarcia) October 7, 2025A number of Democratic figures have raised similar questions in recent weeks, with Representative Madeleine Dean calling Trump “unhinged” and “unwell” in a confrontation with House Speaker Mike Johnson that was caught on camera last week. California Governor Gavin Newsom, who has been trolling Trump on social media, made an offhanded comment on the topic last month, telling him to “take your dementia meds” in one post.Last month, former Labor Secretary Robert Reich wrote that “Trump is showing growing signs of dementia.”“He’s increasingly unhinged,” he wrote in an opinion piece. “He’s 79 years old with a family history of dementia. He could well be going nuts.”And earlier this year, Representative Jasmine Crockett didn’t use the “d” word but did raise questions about his cognitive abilities and wondered why others weren’t doing the same. “The fact that no one is questioning his mental acuity or fitness to serve is beyond wild to me,” she said in an MSNBC interview.Trump, 79, has faced growing questions about his health. He has noticeably swollen feet and ankles, which the White House has said is due to chronic venous insufficiency, which involves poor blood flow from the legs back to the heart. He’s also had bruising on his hand, which the White House has said is due to a combination of aspirin use and frequent handshaking.However, the White House has said the president is otherwise healthy and fit to serve.
