9 Dramatic Behind-The-Scenes Celebrity Traitors Moments That Viewers Never Got To See
The cast of The Celebrity Traitors with presenter Claudia WinklemanThe Celebrity Traitors had us gripped from start to finish with betrayals, shocking murders and outrageous lying. But since the series ended, it’s emerged that there were even more twists and turns behind the scenes, with members of the famous cast revealing the best bits we didn’t get to see from the comfort of our homes. As Jonathan Ross recently said on his podcast Reel Talk: “Bear in mind… 19 contestants in our version, challenges to do, as well, and chunks of the day that they have to have. It’s almost impossible for them to condense.”With that in mind, here are nine dramatic moments that the audience at home didn’t get to see…Nick Mohammed’s reaction to Alan Carr winning Celebrity Traitors was even bigger than it came across on screenNick Mohammed in the Celebrity Traitors finalMillions of us were gripped as the last “Traitor” standing, Alan Carr, blagged his way to winning the entire prize pot for children’s charity Neuroblastoma UK.While “Faithful” David Olusoga was stunned that the funny man could have deceived the whole group for the length of the series, comedian and actor Nick Mohammed was so shocked that he audibly swore. However, speaking to The Times, Nick admitted his reaction was even more extreme than shown when he learnt of Alan’s traitor behaviour.“There was a lot more they edited out,” he claimed. “I was effing and blinding, I was so shocked. And then I just lost control of my legs. I was on the floor.”Nick and David’s attitude soon changed when Alan famously then began crying, at which point the pair ran over to console the presenter and comedian.“When Alan burst into tears I couldn’t bear it,” Nick told the outlet. “But I also thought, ‘oh my God, this is going to be great television’.”Alan Carr and Jonathan Ross taunted Lucy Beaumont after ‘murdering’ her face to faceJonathan Ross, Alan Carr and Cat Burns commit the first face-to-face "murder" of the series on The Celebrity TraitorsOne of the things we all loved about The Celebrity Traitors was just how involved the famous cast got in the gameplay. However, Alan Carr and Jonathan Ross have since admitted that, looking back, they may have gotten a little too carried away with their role as “Traitors”.After completing the face-to-face “murder” of comedian Lucy Beaumont, Jonathan revealed he and Alan added in a couple of unnecessary barbs.Speaking on Jonathan’s podcast Reel Talk, Alan claimed that producers “cut out” a part where he warned Lucy not to “mess with us”.“After leaving Lucy that night, that’s when I felt the worst,” Jonathan agreed. “I kind of thought that was going to be OK, because it was face-to-face, and so I was grinning like an idiot, like, ‘ha! It’s us!’.”When Lucy told the three “Traitors”, including singer Cat Burns, that they’d “really let her down”, Jonathan apparently then told her they were “’doing better than you”, and when she questioned why, he responded: “You’re dead! Ha ha!”The talk show host then claimed he delivered a childish “see ya, wouldn’t wanna be you!” before walking away, but admitted he felt bad taunting Lucy as he liked the comedian so much.“It was like kicking a puppy,” Alan added. “She’s so cute!”Alan Carr laughing in Stephen Fry’s face during one deliberationOne of Alan Carr's funniest Traitors memories involved a round table with Stephen FryAlan Carr created some of the best television moments of the year on The Celebrity Traitors, but during an interview with the Radio Times, he said that the audiences at home didn’t even see his favourite moment.“There was one funny bit that didn’t stay in, but at one round table, Stephen Fry said, ‘We have to think about the Cambridge spies. Philby, Blunt… they were flamboyant characters, camp but still under the radar’,” Alan revealed.“I’m sitting directly opposite, saying ‘Ooh I know!’ and laughing,” the former Chatty Man host then added. He somehow managed to be unnoticed as a traitor despite constantly giggling when trying to tell the lies to the “Faithfuls”.This is just one of the many cut moments of comedy gold from Alan Carr, though. Jonathan Ross has even said he thinks the BBC should air an Alan special, as the stand-up had so many funny moments throughout filming.“So maybe the BBC will consider, ask Alan, maybe they could put Alan’s Unseen Highlights together,” he remarked.Joe Wilkinson has claimed that he’d worked out one of the Traitors before he was ‘murdered’Joe WilkinsonAfter his elimination aired, comedian Joe Wilkinson teased one detail which could have totally changed the game’s outcome.Speaking to Metro, Joe revealed that he had suspected Cat Burns was a “Traitor” long before she was voted out during the last round table of the series.During his stint on the BBC show, the comic put forward several theories to his castmates, some correct, some not. Although he met his demise the same night as Stephen Fry was voted out, he did manage to pinpoint a “Traitor” before he went.“The only reason I chose Cat in the end was because someone said, ‘Look at the person you think of least.’ You don’t really see it in the show, but I was hanging out with Cat quite a lot, and I probably trusted her as much as I did Joe Marler,” he explained.Despite voicing his suspicions to others about Cat, Joe still admits he wouldn’t have actually voted for the singer at the round table.“I really liked her – she was just so cool and lovely to hang out with. So no, I wouldn’t have gone for her next,” the comic added. And Joe clearly wasn’t totally convinced of his suspicions about Cat, though, as when he found out the Go singer was a “Traitor” during an appearance on companion series Uncloaked, he declared: “Man, Cat… she is good. I thought she was 100 per cent Faithful. This is exhausting.”Jonathan Ross almost let his identity as a Traitor slip at one pointJonathan Ross in the Celebrity Traitors castleSince the series began airing, Jonathan Ross has been outspoken on his podcast about how “wearing” is was to “constantly lie” to his fellow contestants, which made him “increasingly uncomfortable” in the castle. It was probably this reason that led to him almost giving the game away completely to sports broadcaster Clare Balding. After Clare found out that Jonathan was a Traitor on Uncloaked, she told host Ed Gamble that she was “going to go for” Jonathan the previous night. Jonathan later revealed this was because he had said something to her, which didn’t make the edit, that made her suspicious of his status as a “Faithful.”Clare ultimately voted for Charlotte Church right before her elimination, with Jonathan claiming this was because she didn’t feel she had enough other “Faithfuls” on board to vote him out of the round table. A slip of the tongue from Tameka Empson contributed to her being ‘banished’Tameka Empson on The Celebrity TraitorsEastEnders actor Tameka Empson was the fourth person eliminated from the first series of The Celebrity Traitors. Her axing may have felt like it came out of nowhere to viewers, but Tameka admitted during an appearance on This Morning that one moment which led to her demise was cut from the final edit. The soap star revealed that she got mixed up when talking to Mark Bonnar and accidentally called herself a “Traitor”, rather than a “Faithful”, telling Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley about the mishap.Tameka agreed that the slip-up was just a silly mistake and she shouldn’t have been judged so harshly for it. “I would [have] thought that I’d like to have seen something before I called it out,” she told the presenters. Now it makes sense why Mark voted for Tameka at two round tables with so little evidence.Niko Omilana’s ‘banishment’ got rather dramaticYouTube personality Niko Omilana didn't last long in the Celebrity Traitors castleNiko Omilana’s early exit from The Celebrity Traitors was actually much more dramatic than it seemed on television.Posting on Instagram Stories the day after his elimination aired, as reported by Cosmopolitan, the social media star revealed the “intense” round table session was much more brutal than it came across on screen. “One thing you guys didn’t see was that round table was the most intense thing I’ve ever seen in my life,” he explained. “Obviously, they have to cut it down for TV and make it shorter but there was some people going crazy on me and I was like ‘ok then’.”While Niko didn’t reveal exactly who was going “crazy” on him, he admitted he knew pretty quickly that the writing was on the wall for his time on the show. “This is the worst group of ‘Faithfuls’ ever. Nice people, terrible ‘Faithfuls’. Truly, I knew it was finished when people were voting for me and people were saying ‘I don’t even think it’s you but I had to put a name down’,” he explained on his Instagram Stories.Alan Carr struggled with being a ‘Traitor’ much more than he let onAlan Carr had an emotional moment during the Celebrity Traitors finalJonathan Ross has also spoken about a “horrible” unseen moment that profoundly affected Alan Carr and could be the reason he was so emotional in his winning moment.During an appearance on Good Morning Britain, Jonathan admitted the experience of being a traitor on the reality show began to really “take its toll” on Alan, leaving him “with his head in his hands” at times. While Alan looked like he was his normal bubbly and hilarious self, behind the scenes, he wasn’t handling the pressure as well as it came across.“Cat took it all in stride – she saw it as just a game. But sometimes, after filming late into the night, Alan and I would be driving home with our heads in our hands thinking, ‘Oh God’,” Jonathan recalled.“We could tell it was getting to him,” the talk show host added. “Still, it was such an incredible experience to be part of.”When Alan was crowned the winner of the first series of The Celebrity Traitors, he quickly broke down sobbing. “I’m so sorry, it’s been tearing me apart,” he said.He later joked on Uncloaked: “Hopefully when people see how upset I was they won’t feel so bad that I killed all those national treasures.”One celebrity “kicked off” with a producer over how the cast were being treatedStars of The Celebrity Traitors on their first full day on the showThe cast of The Celebrity Traitors had to follow specific protocols behind the scenes, like only being able to phone home once a day, but there was one rule that caused one celeb to “kick off”.Nick Mohammed revealed that an unnamed star was especially upset by not being allowed to know the time. During an interview on the podcast The Comedian’s Comedian, Nick explained: “When we were in the castle, you’d be like ‘What’s the time?’. And [the producers would] be like ‘It’s Traitors time!’. Every single member of production had to just answer with that.”“[That went on] until someone kicked off and they said, ‘It’s a basic human right, you can just tell us the time, it doesn’t mean anything!’” the Ted Lasso star added. The Celebrity Traitors’ first season is available to stream on BBC iPlayer, with a second already confirmed to be in the works.MORE TRAITORS:All The Stars Who've Been Rumoured For The Celebrity Traitors Season 2 So FarAlan Carr Comes Clean About Celebrity Traitors 'Murder' That Affected Him MostIt Turns Out Claudia Winkleman Wasn't Actually First Choice To Host The Traitors
