A Couple Took Their Baby On Holiday, But Not Their Toddler – And You Can Imagine The Comments

A Couple Took Their Baby On Holiday, But Not Their Toddler – And You Can Imagine The Comments
It all began with a nine-second TikTok video of Georgia Brown’s husband, Chris, sitting with their baby on his knee, patting his back, while watching the sun set. Text overlaid read: “POV [point of view] you leave your first baby at home to take your second baby on their first holiday where it can be all about them and not their big sibling.”Georgia and Chris had gone on a four-day trip to Morocco with their four-month-old, leaving their two-year-old son back home with his grandparent, according to the Mirror.Writing in the caption for the clip, Georgia asked other parents if they would leave their child at home to take a sibling away.“I wasn’t sure on the idea of it at first,” she wrote. “But I’m so glad we did it, it was so amazing to make those one-on-one memories with our second.”People had *thoughts*The move turned out to be extremely controversial. “I fear you did it the wrong way round,” said one commenter, whose response was favourited almost 17,000 times.“Don’t have two if you can’t handle two,” added another. Many shared concerns about the trip fuelling sibling jealousy – especially as the baby wouldn’t be able to remember the trip, but the toddler might.Other parents didn’t seem to be on board, either. “We all go or none of us go,” said one. “From one mum to another – not cool,” added another. But not everyone could see a problem with taking one child away on a break and leaving the other in the care of grandparents.“Oh no, a mum spending quality time with her other child – call the authorities!” said one TikToker. “Her eldest isn’t abandoned, he’s just secure enough not to fall apart when mum takes a break. Some of you could take notes.”“All mine have been with us on their own,” added another parent. “We all go together too! Balance of both is OK too.”The parents responded to negativityAfter the TikTok video went viral, Georgia revealed her husband had booked the trip as a surprise birthday gift for her. To begin with, she was a bit surprised to see only one child on the booking – but when she heard the reasoning she considered it “quite sweet”. Georgia said they’d been on a similar trip with their eldest when he was a baby, so they hoped to give their youngest a similar experience where he was the centre of attention. In a follow-up video, the mum-of-two explained: “A lot of people are saying it’s favouritism or we don’t have the money, and that’s definitely not the case.“As a second child his life very much revolves around his brother’s schedule so we wanted to give him something that was all about him.“People are saying that our eldest son is gonna have abandonment issues and not speak to us when we’re older, which is absolutely crazy.”She added that the couple “felt guilty” that their toddler wasn’t on the trip, but they also “feel guilty for our second child, that he doesn’t have as much of our attention as our first did”.The parents said since the holiday without their toddler, they’ve been away on two more trips with both kids. She also claimed that her eldest had “fully adjusted to big brother life” and “had the best time” while they were away.Georgia added: “We FaceTimed him all the time and he never cried and he was never sad. He can barely remember what he had for dinner yesterday, let alone us going away.”Related...I Did Disneyland Paris On The Cheap – Here's How (And What I'd Change Next Time)I Stayed In A Hotel's 'Christmas Room' With My Kids – And I’m Not Sure Who Had More FunThe 1 Seemingly Harmless Phrase That 'Crosses A Line' With Your Grandkids
