Bob Vylan Share Defiant Message At First Live Show Since Glastonbury
Bobby Vylan of Bob Vylan performing on Glastonbury's West Holts Stage last monthPunk rap duo Bob Vylan put on a surprise show in London on Wednesday that marked their first live performance since their polarising Glastonbury set.Last month, the group’s frontman Bobby Vylan generated controversy when he was heard leading the crowd at Glastonbury in a chat of “death to the IDF”, referring to the Israeli army, which was broadcast live on the BBC’s iPlayer service. It was later reported that the performance had sparked a criminal investigation, to which the group remained defiant, insisting in a joint statement: “We are not for the death of Jews, Arabs or any other race or group of people. We are for the dismantling of a violent military machine. A machine whose own soldiers were told to use ‘unnecessary lethal force’ against innocent civilians waiting for aid. A machine that has destroyed much of Gaza.“We, like those in the spotlight before us, are not the story. We are a distraction from the story. And whatever sanctions we receive will be a distraction.“The government doesn’t want us to ask why they remain silent in the face of this atrocity. To ask why they aren’t doing more to stop the killing. To feed the starving. The more they talk about Bob Vylan, the less they spend answering for their criminal inaction. “We are being targeted for speaking up. We are not the first. We will not be the last. And if you care for the sanctity of human life and freedom of speech, we urge you to speak up, too.”View this post on InstagramA post shared by Bob Vylan (@bobbyvylan)On Wednesday, the duo put on an impromptu show at The 100 Club in central London, where they once again expressed their solidarity with Palestine.Bobby admitted to the crowd (via The Independent): “I am pretty tired. It’s been a busy week… a busy couple of days, do you know what I mean? Just putting out fires, you know?“We never ever could have imagined that we would create a conversation that needed to be created and needed to be had.”“They have been trying to silence us, they thought that this would shut us up, but the album is back in the charts,” he continued (The Guardian reported that the group’s most recent album topped the UK’s hip-hop and R&B album charts in recent weeks).“We just want to see the liberation of the Palestinian people. That’s it. I don’t think it’s too crazy a thing to ask. I don’t think it’s a violent thing to ask, right? The liberation of the Palestinian people from a tyrannical fucking oppressor. That’s all we want. But until then – free, free Palestine. Each and every single time, they will not fucking silence us.”Bob Vylan reminding people where the focus should be."As hard as this week may have been for us. It has been nothing in comparison to what the Palestinian people are going through right now." pic.twitter.com/HjV1kNVd0U— Mukhtar (@I_amMukhtar) July 10, 2025It has also been widely reported that fans in attendance repeated the “death to the IDF” chant heard at Glastonbury to which Bobby responded: “You are going to get me in trouble.”Following the Glastonbury controversy, Bob Vylan were dropped from multiple music festival line-ups.Reacting to this, Bobby wrote on Instagram: “Silence is not an option. We will be fine, the people of Palestine are hurting.”READ MORE:BBC Announces Immediate Changes After Glastonbury ControversyBob Vylan Frontman Speaks Out After Band Is Dropped From Manchester Music FestivalPolice Open Criminal Investigation After Bob Vylan And Kneecap's Glastonbury Sets
