Brad Pitt Gives Surprising Answer When Asked About Angelina Jolie Divorce

Brad Pitt at the premiere of Wolfs last yearBrad Pitt is downplaying the significance of being legally divorced from his ex-wife Angelina Jolie.The two Oscar winners were together for almost a decade when they tied the knot in 2014, with the Girl, Interrupted star filing for divorce in 2016.For years afterwards, the pair were embroiled in a number of very public legal battles, first becoming declared legally single in 2019, before finally reaching a divorce settlement last year.During a new interview with GQ, Brad was asked how it felt to finally be able to put the legal part of the divorce behind him.“I don’t think it was that major of a thing,” he insisted. “Just something coming to fruition. Legally.”Angelina Jolie in Cannes earlier this monthHe was also asked about when he and his new partner, jewellery designer Ines de Ramon, made their first joint public appearance at the British Grand Prix last year.Asked if this was a deliberate choice on their part, Brad responded: “Dude, it’s not that calculated. If you’re living, oh my God, how exhausting would that be? If you’re living with making those kinds of calculations? No, life just evolves. Relationships evolve.”Court filings detailed by The New York Times in 2022 revealed that Angelina had alleged that Brad physically and verbally assaulted both herself and several of the former couple’s children during a 2016 flight from France to California, shortly before she filed for divorce.Brad’s lawyer Anne Kiley subsequently released a statement denying his ex-wife’s account.Angelina Jolie Pitt and Brad Pitt in 2015Angelina’s lawyers told USA Today after the divorce was finalised last year: “Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over.“She and the children left all of the properties they had shared with Mr. Pitt, and since that time she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family.
