Bruce Willis' Wife Takes On Critics After Sharing That He No Longer Lives In Their Family Home
Emma Heming Willis and Bruce Willis in 2016Bruce Willis’ wife Emma Heming Willis is shrugging off criticism that has been levelled against her since she disclosed during an interview that she made the decision to move the action star out of their family home and into accommodation where he can receive constant care. The Die Hard star has been living with frontotemporal dementia (FTD) for a number of years, with Emma opening up on his condition last week during an interview with US broadcaster Diane Sawyer.During the special, Emma revealed that Bruce was no longer living at home, describing the move as “one of the hardest decisions that I’ve had to make so far”.Over the weekend, she shared a post on Instagram dismissing those who criticised her for moving the actor out of the family home that he previously shared with Emma and their daughters.Praising the Diane Sawyer interview, Emma said: “I think that they did a beautiful job with amplifying FTD awareness, as well as shining a spotlight onto caregivers.“What I knew is that by sharing some of our intimate information, that we would see these two camps, right? It would be people with an opinion versus people with an actual experience. And it’s been a perfect example to see, in the comments section, that I knew would happen, is that people with an opinion and how quick they are to judge the caregiver. That is what caregivers are up against – judgement from others and criticism from others.”Reading a relevant passage from her book, Emma continued: “Everyone will have an opinion but you have to remind yourself that most don’t have the experience to back it up, and if that’s the case, they shouldn’t offer their two cents about it, and you shouldn’t pay them any mind.”“The truth is, the opinions are so loud and they’re so noisy, but if they don’t have the experience of this, they don’t get a say, and they definitely don’t get a vote,” she concluded.View this post on InstagramA post shared by Emma Heming Willis (@emmahemingwillis)In her accompanying caption, Emma wrote: “Too often, caregivers are judged quickly and unfairly by those who haven’t lived this journey or stood on the front lines of it.“Sharing openly may invite opinions, but more importantly, it creates connection and validation for those actually navigating the realities of caregiving every day.“That’s who I share for and so I can build a deeper connection with a community that understands this journey.”Emma previously told Diane Sawyer of the decision to move Bruce out of her family home: “I knew, first and foremost, Bruce would want that for our daughters. He would want them to be in a home that was more tailored to their needs, not his needs.”Bruce and Emma share daughters, 13-year-old Mabel and 11-year-old Evelyn. He also has three grown-up daughters with his ex-wife, fellow actor Demi Moore.READ MORE:Emma Heming Willis Shares Gut-Wrenching Update About Bruce Willis' Life With DementiaBruce Willis' Wife Admits Moving The Actor Was One Of The 'Hardest Decisions' She's Ever MadeBruce Willis' Daughter Tallulah Responds To Criticism Over Instagram Posts Featuring Her Dad
