Charlotte Church's Son Dexter Henson Makes Screen Debut In BBC Short Film

Dexter Henson – the son of Charlotte Church and Gavin Henson – in the short film Waiting For BurtonCharlotte Church’s son Dexter Henson has made his acting debut in a short film for the BBC.The 16-year-old – who is the only son of Charlotte and her ex-partner, rugby star Gavin Henson – had a leading role in the one-off special for It’s My Shout, Waiting For Burton, which aired on BBC 2 Cymru earlier this week.In the short, which is set in the 1970s, Dexter played an aspiring teen actor who landed the leading part of Hamlet in his school production of the Shakespeare play, beating a female classmate with a growing obsession with Richard Burton to the role.Reflecting on his time on the set of Waiting For Burton, Dexter told It’s My Shout: “It was really good, it was my first time working on a set, so everything was a bit new for me. [But] it was great! I was well looked after.“It was really exciting, I really enjoyed myself.”View this post on InstagramDexter went on to admit that acting is “more of a recent passion”, as until recently, he’d been planning to follow in the footsteps of his famous dad with a career in sports.“I was more into rugby since I was about five, but I sort of had enough of it, and I wanted to try something different,” he shared.“[Rugby and acting are] literally two completely different things, but I love it.”Dexter Henson and Charlotte Church at the 2025 BAFTA Cymru AwardsLast month, Charlotte – who is also a mum to 14-year-old Ruby and five-year-old Frida – attended the Bafta Cymru in Newport, Wales, with Dexter as her guest.Days later, the former-opera-performer-turned-wellness-guru made her debut as a cast member on The Celebrity Traitors.
