Colin Farrell Opens Up About The Future Of His Penguin Character
An unrecognisable Colin Farrell in The PenguinColin Farrell has ruled out the possibility of reprising his Penguin character for a stand-alone film. The Irish actor first donned heavy prosthetics to play The Penguin in 2022’s The Batman, completely transforming his appearance to disappear into the role.Since then, Colin also took the lead in a spin-off TV series exploring the iconic Batman villain’s origin story, for which he won a Golden Globe and Critics’ Choice Award, and was most recently nominated for an Emmy. The popularity of The Penguin has led to some speculation among fans about whether Colin’s character could be the star of his own film. However, during an appearance on Friday’s edition of The Graham Norton Show, the Banshees Of Inisherin star made it clear that this wasn’t on the cards.Colin Farrell“It was an amazing experience, like nothing I had ever been part of before, but I have no burning desire to play the character again in another film,” Colin insisted. That doesn’t mean he’s done playing The Penguin for good, though.Colin also teased: “I do have a few scenes in the new Batman sequel, which I am OK with. I had the script a few months ago and it is extraordinary.”Back in 2022, when The Batman was first released, Colin claimed he’d “fought hard” to retain one of the comic book character’s signatures, only for producers to tell him that it wouldn’t be allowed. The sequel is once again set to feature Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader, with a question mark also hovering over whether Barry Keoghan will be putting in another appearance as the Joker, following his brief cameo in the first film.Robert Pattinson as Batman in 2022's The BatmanLaughing off the extended break between films, the former Twilight star quipped earlier this year: “I started out as young Batman and I’m going to be fucking old Batman by the sequel.”Watch Colin Farrell’s interview in full on Friday’s instalment of The Graham Norton Show, airing at 10.40pm on BBC One.MORE FILM NEWS:'The Worst Film Of The Year': Critics Pull No Punches In Scathing Reviews For Tron: AresAmazon Quietly Replaces James Bond Artwork After Backlash Over Edited-Out GunsAlexander Skarsgård Opens Up About What Makes The Sex Scenes In His New BDSM Biker Romance So Unique
