Cool foster cats strike purr-fect poses as they appeal for fur-ever homes

These fostered cats are keen to prove they are model moggies by showing off their purr-fect poses in a bid to find forever homes.Behind the lens is champion cat carer Roxy Monk, 34, who has fostered 100 felines at her flat in Wimbledon, south west London. And her portraits have attracted a devoted online following. She tells The Mirror: “I’m constantly on the lookout for interesting cat-sized items for my photographs.” Spending most of her spare cash from her job as a cattery rehoming and welfare coordinator at London’s famous Battersea Dogs and Cat’s Home on props, she adds: “I have hundreds of them.”Roxy, who moved to London from Hong Kong in 2010, doesn’t have a pet of her own, but is devoted to the felines she fosters. She says: "It is incredibly rewarding seeing the difference fostering makes – terrified cats blossoming in a calm home environment, and kittens with complicated medical issues getting a break from the cattery and being able to thrive in a foster placement, in preparation for their forever home."But before they leave, her moggies are given a taste of the limelight with a photoshoot in one of her amazing sets, ranging from an island theme, with a deck chair, a palm tree and a seagull perched on a scratching post to a pussy picnic at a neatly laid table."My favourite is definitely the island theme," she says. "What's not to like about a cat on a sun-lounger with a drink!" And she says the cats in her care love creating the hilarious poses even more than she does. Kittens love climbing and swinging on things like the hanging chair basket,” she says. “It's great enrichment for them, and if it results in brilliant photos, even better!"Most of the cats love nothing more than exploring all the props, so photography isn't usually challenging!” Now, with foster number 101 – a kitten named Jasper – settling into her home, Roxy is already planning her next photoshoot. And it’s sure to show that it’s very cool for cats!Battersea Dogs & Cats Home is currently looking for new foster carers across all three of their sites (London, Brands Hatch, and Old Windsor).
