David Beckham Seen Celebrating With King Charles Amid Knighthood Rumours
King Charles shares a laugh with Penny Lancaster and David Beckham at an event for his charity foundationDavid Beckham was pictured sharing a laugh with King Charles just days before the public figures on the monarch’s birthday honours list is unveiled.Last week, it was widely reported that the football legend was set to be given a knighthood in King Charles’ birthday honours, the recipients of which will be announced this coming weekend.According to BBC Sport, the knighthood will be given to David – who was given an OBE by the late Queen Elizabeth II in 2003 – for both his contributions to sport and British society at large. While it remains to be confirmed whether or not David is actually set to receive the honour, he and King Charles were seen laughing together on Thursday night at an event for The King’s Foundation, of which he became an ambassador last year.He was joined at the event by stars including Oscar winners Meryl Streep and Kate Winslet, as well as Loose Women panellist Penny Lancaster.More guests at the King's Foundation Awards ceremony on Thursday nightFor the last few years, it’s been no secret that David has hoped to win a knighthood in the future, particularly after leaked emails were published in 2017, in which he voiced his frustration (using some rather colourful language) over not receiving a knighthood four years earlier.Per The Guardian, David’s team said at the time that some of these emails had been doctored to include additional explicit language, though other messages from him that were leaked were confirmed to be genuine.David has been a friend to the Royal Family in recent years, attending the weddings of both of King Charles’ sons, Princes William and Harry in 2011 and 2018, respectively, with his wife Victoria Beckham. He was appointed an ambassador for The King’s Foundation, saying at the time: “I’ve always been keen to help young people to expand their horizons and I’m particularly looking forward to supporting the Foundation’s education programmes and its efforts to ensure young people have greater access to nature.”“It was inspiring to hear from The King about the work of His Majesty’s Foundation during my recent visit to Highgrove Gardens – and compare beekeeping tips!” he added, having become a beekeeping enthusiast during lockdown.READ MORE:David Beckham Sends Sweet Message To Son Brooklyn Amid Family 'Feud' RumoursDavid Beckham Makes Emotional Admission About How He Really Feels Now His Sons Have Moved OutVictoria Beckham Has A Big Reaction To Husband David's Steamy New Underwear Campaign
