Demand For Artificial Limbs In Russia Soars Amid Major Putin 'Failure', UK Says
Vladimir Putin, center, speaks with Chief of the General Staff Gen. Valery Gerasimov, left, and Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, after a meeting with senior military officers in Moscow, Russia, Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2022.The demand for artificial limbs is climbing in Russia as Vladimir Putin struggles to provide “necessary combat medical treatment” for troops on the frontline, according to the UK.The Russian president is known for using “meat-grinder” tactics with his soldiers on the frontline, often attempting to overwhelm their Ukrainian opponents by the sheer size of his army rather than using any tactics. While Russia does still hold 18% of Ukrainian land, low morale, poor training and excessive drinking of alcohol are believed to be major problems among Russian forces. The UK’s Ministry of Defence (MoD) has already confirmed that Russian army has now sustained million casualties – deaths and injuries – since invading Ukraine in February 2022.In its latest update on X, the MoD also noted: “Russians with disabilities reportedly received 152,000 artificial limbs in 2024, a 53% increase on 2023, including a 75% increase in the issuance of arm prosthetics.“This number of wheelchairs issued was also reported to have increased.”The MoD claimed “that injured Russian soldiers with amputated limbs had been left waiting for extended periods for required prosthetics”.The British officials said: “Russia is almost certainly failing to provide necessary combat medical treatment at the frontline, which in turn contributes to a greater number of serious long-term injuries amongst Russian soldiers.“The significant rise in the numbers of Russian men with disabilities, as well as wounded personnel more broadly, will almost certainly have a detrimental long-term impact on both medical and social services in Russia.”Latest Defence Intelligence update on the situation in Ukraine - 17 June 2025.Find out more about Defence Intelligence's use of language: https://t.co/k579UkI8Tr#StandWithUkraine 🇺🇦 pic.twitter.com/VxJlh2xt9O— Ministry of Defence 🇬🇧 (@DefenceHQ) June 17, 2025US president Donald Trump has been pushing for a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine ever since he returned to office – even if it means resolving the war on Putin’s terms.Although the Russian president has been dragging his heels, Trump is yet to follow up on his threat to impose further sanctions on Moscow for its ongoing aggression.Related...Trump Says Kicking Russia Out Of G7 Was A 'Very Big Mistake'More Than Half Of North Korean Troops Sent To Russia Injured Or Killed, UK SaysTrump Uses 1 Rather Bizarre Word As He Ponders Why 'Everyone Hates Russia'
