Dolly Parton Shares Her Take On Jennifer Aniston’s Bold 9 To 5 Remake
Dolly Parton in 2023Dolly Parton has been working 9 To 5 to get this sequel to see the light of day. The country legend spoke to HuffPost on Wednesday about her new line of frozen foods, and also touched on Jennifer Aniston’s forthcoming remake of the film 9 To 5. “Jane [Fonda], Lily [Tomlin] and I have been trying for years to try to come up with a ‘9 To 5: Two’ through the years,” Dolly told HuffPost. “It never happened.” Despite not being able to make a sequel with the three original stars, Dolly said that “in Jennifer’s story, they wanted us to be involved in it somehow” but she’s not sure if that’s happening. “But I love Jennifer. I think it’ll be a wonderful thing,” she said. “But we have no plans to be in that. But I do wish her the best, because the script I read, I thought, was really good, and a new and different take that really brings the office up to date the way that people live now.” Dolly Parton with her 9 To 5 co-stars Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin at the film's premiere in 1980.She quipped: “I think a lot of it is that, you know, we’re all older now. We’re not gonna look that good on the big screen. All of us up there with all those beautiful, young, fresh people... so I don’t know.” Though a potential Dolly cameo or role has not yet been confirmed, she said that she did offer her musical services to the actor, as she and the former Friends star “have been friends through the years.” “I told her, I said, you’re more than welcome to use my song 9 To 5, and if you need some additional songs, or if you need the 9 To 5 song rewritten or reworked, you know, to do that,” Dolly said.“But I’m sure that they’ll find some great person. I don’t have anyone myself in mind for it, but there’s somebody ― there’s a Doralee, [Dolly’s character in the movie] out there,” the Grammy winner shared.“I really would love to see the show, and I’d love to be able to write some music, be involved in that way with it,” she said. Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin and Dolly Parton in 2006Dolly also has another remake on the way, as the country singer was an uncredited producer for the hit ’90s show Buffy The Vampire Slayer – something many people don’t know. Her production company, Sandollar Productions, will again be tied to the upcoming reboot of the series.“I will be as involved as I need to be, or as I can be,” Dolly said. “Or if they need, you know, I may come up with some ideas for some of the episodes.” “I don’t know yet, but I’m excited about the fact that they’re bringing that back,” she said. "I'm excited they're bringing that back," Dolly said of the Buffy rebootBut there’s one thing you won’t see on TV or the big screen anytime soon: a Dolly Parton cooking show. “Well, we’ve been offered that. It’s just, we’re just so busy doing so many things,” she said, adding that one of her sisters, Rachel Parton George, might one day do her own show. “She’s actually the better cook. I think I’m the better old-timey Southern cook, like some of these things,” Dolly said, referring to her new frozen meals, which include dishes like chicken and dumplings, beef pot roast, country fried steak, shrimp and grits and a peach cobbler. “But Rachel has a way of making food taste good and look good,” she said. “Some of my Southern foods are not always pretty, but they’re pretty good.” READ MORE:Dolly Parton Reveals She’s Going To ‘Rub Elbows With The Royalty’ This AutumnDolly Parton Shares How She's Surprised Herself After Husband Carl Dean's DeathDolly Parton Had This 1 Big Rule For Sabrina Carpenter Before Recording Their Duet
