Elizabeth Warren Slams Trump As 'Wannabe King' Amid Colbert Cancellation 'Coincidence'

Elizabeth Warren and Donald TrumpSenator Elizabeth Warren (Democrat, Massachusetts) is sounding the alarm on the actions of “wannabe king” Donald Trump. In a blistering op-ed for Variety, Warren criticised the president and raised pointed questions about CBS’s decision to cancel The Late Show.She speculated whether the move was linked to host Stephen Colbert’s persistent criticism of the president, or his condemnation of Paramount Global, CBS’s parent company, for settling a lawsuit with Trump.“Was it a coincidence that CBS cancelled Colbert just three days after he spoke out?” Warren wrote in the article, published on Wednesday.“Are we sure that this wasn’t part of a wink-wink deal between the president and a giant corporation that needed something from his administration? If CBS made this decision for ‘purely financial’ reasons, why the timing? And why did Trump say ‘I hope I played a major part in’ getting Colbert fired?”The politician said these were “fair questions,” and ones she’s directed toward Paramount and the company it hopes to merge with, Skydance. The merger will only go through if it is approved by the Trump administration. Sen.
