Emmys 2025: As The Pitt Wins Big, Here's What You Need To Know About The Hit US Show

The Pitt was one of the most-awarded shows at the 2025 EmmysAdolescence was the runaway success at the Emmy Awards on Sunday night, with Severance, Hacks and Seth Rogen’s comedy The Studio also scooping multiple wins during the ceremony.But there was one other series to rack up a string of awards during this year’s Emmys that you might be less familiar with.On the night, The Pitt came away with three awards, even managing to beat strong contenders like Severance, Slow Horses, The Last Of Us and The White Lotus in the Best Drama category.Here’s a quick guide to what you need to know about the show that’s taken the US by storm this last year…The Pitt won Best Drama Series at this year’s Emmys – but what actually is it?E.R. fans might be interested to hear that The Pitt is a shiny new medical drama. It was created by former E.R. writer R. Scott Gemmill and executive produced by Noah Wyle and John Wells, both of whom also worked with him on the hit 90s series.What sets The Pitt apart is that each hour-long episode takes place in real time, upping the tension and urgency, and effectively making the show a cross between 24 and Grey’s Anatomy.As well as scooping Best Drama Series, Noah Wyle picked up Best Actor In A Drama while co-star Katherine LaNasa also took home an award for her supporting performance as charge nurse Dana Evans.Noah Wyle and Katherine LaNasa both won Emmys for their performance in season one of The PittWith a near-perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes and a loyal following already, it was announced earlier this year that a second season is already in the works, which is due to air in early 2026.OK, so where can I watch The Pitt in the UK – and why haven’t I heard of it before?Well, that’s the thing. The reason The Pitt might have completely passed you by until now is because it’s not actually available to stream anywhere in the UK.
