Exclusive: Labour Minister Slaps Down Another Tory MP After Bizarre Gender Neutral Toilet Question

Home Office minister Diana Johnson.A Labour minister has slapped down a Tory MP after he asked a bizarre question about gender neutral toilets in her government department.Diana Johnson told Kevin Hollinrake it was her job to crack down on crime, not “make assessments of the Home Office’s toilets”.Hollinrake, the shadow housing secretary, raised the matter in a written parliamentary question to the Home Office.He asked home secretary Yvette Cooper if she had made any assessment of the impact of new building regulations “on the provision of gender neutral toilets in her department’s buildings”.Answering on Cooper’s behalf, Home Office minister Diana Johnson said: “I have made no assessment.″[You] may think the job of the policing minister is to make assessments of the Home Office’s toilets, but I believe it is to restore neighbourhood policing in our country, tackle antisocial behaviour, and deliver this government’s unprecedented mission to halve knife crime over the next decade.”It is not the first time Johnson has batted away the Tories’ attempts to revive the culture wars.In January, former Conservative chair Richard Holden was left embarrassed after calling for the removal of gender-neutral toilets his own government installed.The minister told him: “The current number and location of gender neutral toilets in the Home Office’s Marsham Street office was established under the previous government in October 2017, at a cost of £36,963.20, and has remained unchanged since that time.“There are no plans to spend further public money on the reconfiguration of the Home Office’s toilets.”HuffPost UK also revealed how Johnson had dismissed several questions from Nick Timothy, the Tory MP for West Suffolk, on flags, the “decolonisation” of artwork, and diversity and inclusion advisers.A Labour source told HuffPost UK: “You start to wonder if some of these Tories have a sado-masochistic streak.“It doesn’t matter how many times Diana Johnson destroys them, they keep coming back for more.”Related...Supreme Court's Ruling On Gender Will Not Result In 'Toilet Police', Minister SaysBridget Phillipson Still Can't Say Which Toilet Trans People Are Meant To UseI Was In The Women's Toilet When A Man Came In And Called Out A Question That Left Me Nauseated
