'Finally': Spotify Users Celebrate Change To Its Most 'Hated' Feature

Spotify just got way better.I’ll be honest; I don’t think I’m using Spotify right. I’m a huge fan of the streaming app, but I almost always use it for podcasts and for listening to my liked songs. I’m happy with that, but it means I haven’t discovered new music since about 2019 (oops). More enthusiastic app users, however, will know that Spotify’s Smart Shuffle feature – which weaves new music suggestions into people’s curated playlists – has been upsetting music lovers since its 2023 introduction. Well, as Redditors have found out, the app seems to have introduced a new way to switch that feature off. HuffPost UK reached out to Spotify to confirm the change, but the method certainly works on my phone. How can I remove Smart Shuffle?“You can now remove Smart Shuffle,” a delighted u/kwabb posted to r/truespotify, adding: “Finally.” The feature is simple to access: hit your profile (the circle in the top left-hand side of your homepage) and then choose “Playback.” Once you’re in that setting, you’ll be met with a new switch that offers to “Enable all play modes.” Toggling this to “off” will, the feature says, “remove the Smart Shuffle option.” This worked on my phone; some, however, report a slightly different version of the switch.
