Fans enjoying Glastonbury in 2019With Glastonbury festival officially opening its doors today, festival-goers are descending on Worthy Farm once again for the biggest weekend in music.The 1975, Olivia Rodrigo and Neil Young – along with Sir Rod Stewart in the “Legends” slot – are set to headline the iconic Pyramid Stage over the coming days, with other big performances scheduled from the likes of Charli XCX, Raye, The Prodigy, Doechii, Scissor Sisters and many more.But it wouldn’t be Glasto without a few hidden surprises on the line-up – and this year fans are trying to work out the identity of a mystery act called Patchwork, who are scheduled to take the Pyramid Stage for an hour-long set at 6pm on Saturday evening.If previous years are anything to go by – and judging by the prime time slot – we can expect a pretty big artist to reveal themselves on Saturday night, especially after an unknown band called “The Churnups” were added to the schedule two years ago, later revealing themselves as Foo Fighters.So far, fans reckon Haim are a strong contender, while others are pretty confident it might be Pulp.But another pop star has just sent everyone into a tizzy with what some eagle-eyed fans think might be a very subtle clue to eagle-eyed fans.In a throwback photo dump posted to Instagram earlier this week, the Midwest Princess herself Chappell Roan featured a curious photo of herself in her younger years waving a multi-coloured patchwork quilt with the caption: “Insane vibe.”View this post on InstagramA post shared by ･ﾟ: *✧ Chappell Roan ✧*:･ﾟ (@chappellroan)Of course, this could be written off as nothing more than a mere coincidence – if it weren’t for the famously in-the-know X account SecretGlasto changing its bio to “babe this is insanity”, which sounds like it could be a reference to Chappell Roan’s hit single Good Luck, Babe!.Maybe we’re just being put off the scent, but whatever the true meaning of these clues are, it’s certainly keeping fans on their toes. And with more than 50 performances marked as “TBA”, it’s safe to say that Patchwork won’t be the only surprise this weekend. Woman of the hour Chappell Roan is rumoured to be making a surprise appearance at GlastonburyAs for the fan theories surrounding the Haim sisters’ potential appearance, one Reddit user pointed out that Patchwork is the name of a German novel by the author Sylvia Haim.
