Going On Holiday? The '3-3-3' Rule May Be The Smartest Way To Pack

A suitcase packed neatlyI can delude myself into thinking that I’m low-maintenance until it comes time to pack for a holiday. Only then do I realise how many products I need to achieve what I consider a basic level of presentability – between hair straighteners, my makeup bag, skincare, and a space-hogging dryer (only mine does the job), I’ve never been able to get away with a single bag. And that’s without considering clothes or the dreaded, “where do I put them and why do they fill half my suitcase?” shoes. If you’re like me, though, fear not. The 3-3-3 method aims to solve the packing problems of people like us, without limiting our outfit options as much as you’d expect. What’s the 3-3-3 packing method?The method, which was invented by TikToker and fashion influencer Rachel Spencer, limits you to three bottoms, three tops, and three pairs of shoes.That might sound meagre, but provided you mix and match every component of the selection, you’ll actually be left with 27 potential outfits. First, the best outfit choices seem to focus on un-patterned, timeless basics: an oversized blazer looks just as good over jeans and a white tee as it does on top of a dress, for instance. Neutral colours or monochrome help, as they all go together. And a small pouch of accessories – a headband, some hoops – go a long way to switching up the “vibe” of different looks, too.
