Halle Berry Forced To Change Her Outfit Because Of This Last-Minute Change To Cannes Dress Code

Halle Berry in Vannes on TuesdayHalle Berry has revealed she and her style team were forced to think on their feet when the Cannes Film Festival announced changes to this year’s dress code at the eleventh hour.Earlier this week, an update was made to the iconic film festival’s website, making two major tweaks to what would be allowed on its red carpets.For starters, it was made abundantly clear that “nudity is prohibited on the red carpet, as well as in any other area of the festival”, for what was described as reasons of “decency”.Meanwhile, they also ruled out what they described as “voluminous” outfits – “particular those with a large train” which can both “hinder the proper flow of traffic of guests” and “complicate seating” in screenings.On the opening night of the festival on Tuesday, Halle – who is part of the jury at this year’s event – revealed that she’d had to rethink her outfit for the press conference.This wasn't the outfit Halle Berry initially wanted to wear on the first night of Cannes“I had an amazing dress by Gupta that I cannot wear tonight because it’s too big of a train,” Halle said (via Variety).The Oscar winner added that she had no desire to “break the rules”, while also admitting that she thinks the “nudity part is also probably a good rule”.Joining Halle on the Cannes 2025 jury are a host of famous faces from the entertainment industry including Succession star Jeremy Strong and Juliette Binoche.Wes Anderson, Richard Linklater, Hereditary and Midsommar filmmaker Ari Aster and Titane director Julia Ducournau – who took away the Palme D’Or in 2021 – are among those who have films in contention for the top prize at this year’s event.Actors Scarlett Johansson, Kristen Stewart and Harris Dickinson also have their directorial debuts competing in the Un Certain Regard of the festival, with Robert De Niro receiving an honorary Palme D’Or on opening night.MORE ENTERTAINMENT NEWS:Robert De Niro Kicks Off Cannes Film Festival With Blistering Speech About 'Philistine' TrumpCynthia Erivo To Play Dracula (And 22 Other Roles) In New West End ShowTimothée Chalamet And Kylie Jenner Steal The Show At NBA Game After Red Carpet Debut
