Hamilton Star Reveals What Really Happened The Infamous Night Madonna Came To See The Show
Anthony RamosHamilton star Anthony Ramos has lifted the lid on what happened when Madonna paid the Broadway musical a visit early on in its run.Anthony originated the role of Philip Hamilton, the protagonist’s son, in the hit musical, first Off Broadway, and later on, playing the role for almost two years in total. Before Hamilton had even transferred to Broadway, it was widely reported that the Queen of Pop stopped by to check it out – but got on the wrong side of the cast when she spent much of her evening scrolling on her device. In a tweet that was swiftly-deleted, Hamilton creator and star Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote in April 2015: “Tonight was the first time I asked stage management NOT to allow a celebrity (who was texting all through Act 2) backstage.”While Lin remained tight-lipped about the celeb in question, an audience member from that same night identified in their own tweet that Madonna had been in the theatre that night.Madonna in 2015, weeks before her ill-fated trip to see HamiltonLast week, Anthony stopped by Watch What Happens Live, where the host – TV personality (and Madonna superfan!) Andy Cohen – asked Anthony for the “most terrifying celebrity to spot in the audience during your Hamilton days”.“The most terrifying was Madonna with her iPad in her face,” the In The Heights star responded.“She was like this the whole time,” he added, mimicking someone looking down at a tablet. “I was like, ‘damn, shawty, if you’re not enjoying it that much, you know, the door’s right there, you ain’t got to stay here’.”HuffPost UK has contacted Madonna’s team for comment. This isn’t the first time the Like A Prayer singer’s alleged phone usage has caused upset, though.Back in 2013, it was claimed by Page Six she’d irked fellow attendees at the premiere of 12 Years A Slave for texting during the movie, even reportedly admonishing one audience member with an unfortunate choice of words when they told her to stop using her phone in the auditorium.READ MORE:'If This Is A Joke, I'm Not Laughing': Madonna Blasts Trump's Latest Wild Claim About HimselfWe Can't Stop Thinking About Madonna Mud Wrestling In The Miley Cyrus Video That Never WasMadonna Reveals She And Elton John Have 'Buried The Hatchet' After Decades-Long Feud
