The Devil Wears Prada 2Time to fish out your best cerulean sweater, because The Devil Wears Prada 2 is officially happening.We’ve barely been able to contain our excitement since we discovered last summer that a sequel to the much-loved fashion drama starring Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt was reportedly in the works.One year later, and it’s starting to feel real as numerous on-set pictures have emerged of the original cast (along with a few exciting new faces), with 20th Century Fox announcing production had started at the end of last month.The iconic 2006 film followed Andy Sachs as she found her feet in the cut-throat fashion world working as an assistant to magazine mogul Miranda Priestly.If you’re wondering just how they’re planning to follow up the perfection of the original film, it’s all looking very promising.Here’s everything we know about the new movie so far…What will The Devil Wears Prada 2 be about?We don’t have plot details for the sequel just yet, but according to Variety, the story is set to revisit Meryl Streep’s role as Miranda Priestly as she navigates the declining magazine publishing industry.She also apparently faces off against Emily Blunt’s character, who is now an executive for a luxury group with the advertising spend that Miranda needs.We don’t know how Andy’s storyline is going to play into things just yet, after the first film ended with her quitting her job at the fictional Runway magazine and taking a role at a newspaper instead. The other good news is David Frankel and Aline Brosh McKenna – who directed and wrote the original movie – are returning for the sequel, so hopefully we can expect some new zingers (“details of your incompetence do not interest me”) and producer Karen Rosenfelt is back on board, too.Who stars in the new movie?There couldn’t be a Devil Wears Prada sequel with Meryl Streep, and thankfully, the Oscar-winner is back as the demanding magazine editor Miranda Priestley.Anne Hathaway will of course be revisiting her role as (an older, wiser) Andy Sachs, while Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci will be reprising their characters Emily and Nigel, respectively.Alongside the original cast, there’s some new additions, with Sir Kenneth Branagh set to play Meryl’s on-screen husband.Bridgerton star Simone Ashley has also been confirmed, while Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu, Rachel Bloom, The Office’s BJ Novak, comedian Caleb Hearon and Pauline Chalamet (sister of Timothée and an actor in her own right) are all listed among the new cast on IMDB. Tracie Thoms and Tibor Feldman – both of whom played supporting roles in the first Devil Wears Prada movie – are also returning.According to Entertainment Weekly, Adrian Grenier’s Nate (who was previously confirmed not to be returning) will be replaced by a new love interest for Andy by Colin From Accounts co-creator and star Patrick Brammall.And apparently, this character is set to be more likeable than Nate, who fans widely deemed the villain of the first movie for being unsupportive of Andy’s career.
