Horizn Made The World’s 'Most Durable’ Suitcase – Can It Survive The World’s Clumsiest Traveller?

Can it withstand my chaotic travel habits? We hope you love the products we recommend! All of them were independently selected by our editors. Just so you know, HuffPost UK may collect a share of sales or other compensation from the links on this page if you decide to shop from them. Oh, and FYI — prices are accurate and items in stock as of time of publication. If there’s one thing I’m going to do with a suitcase, it’s drop it. And if it manages to survive endless clatters to the floor, there’s a solid chance it’s going to be slammed against several kerbs, or in the case of one cheapy case, meet its untimely demise while being closed in the doors of a tube.I travel A LOT between Edinburgh and London as well as zooming here, there and everywhere abroad for work, so the budget suitcases I’ve been purchasing tend to only survive for a year or two max before I somehow destroy them.Overpacking has seen many a busted zip and on more than one occasion I’ve watched my corner shop bought suitcase come round on a baggage reclaim carousel utterly battered.Up until now I haven’t done the math that maybe I wouldn’t have to buy so many cheap suitcases if I just invested in one decent one – so when luxury luggage favourite Horizn offered to let me put their H5 Pro cabin luggage case to the test, I jumped at the chance. First things first  – it’s safe to say that Horizn’s Pro Series luggage collection (their newest, having launched in February 2025) has some serious tech specs. The cases have ultra-silent ball-bearing wheels (heaven for early morning travel when you’re self-conscious of the racket of a rattly wheel) and, seriously, why have I only settled for two wheels up until now? DEEPLY embarrassing behaviour. These Japanese-engineered 360-degree spinner wheels feature premium ball-bearings and are mounted for exceptional smoothness and control – withstanding the cobbles of Edinburgh no problem. As someone who has sat on their suitcase to force it shut more times than I’d care to admit, the inside of the Horizn H5 Pro was an organisational dream come true. The thoughtfully designed interior includes a compression pad for crease-free packing (goodbye scrunched up dresses and shirts). while the removable laundry bag keeps used clothes separate (a far cry from the bag of life I use normally). Every detail is crafted to make packing and unpacking easier. Now, the real test – just how tough is this tough suitcase? Well, there’s no fear of the handle coming off. It’s crafted from refined aerospace-grade aluminium, ensuring it withstands the demands of frequent (and in my case, clumsy) travel.Even holding the weight of a full suitcase as I lifted it off trains and planes, there was no issue of the extended handle feeling loose or at risk of it separating. Yes I know I should pop it down and use the handle attached to the bag BUT SOMETIMES THERE JUST ISN’T TIME.The shell of the case is made up of aerospace-grade German polycarbonate and is utterly solid. Despite being whacked repeatedly on my latest travels, my case is barely marked, let alone damaged. It FEELS strong and knowing that it’s going to withstand my journeys makes the cost per use so worth it.One of the best bits? The suitcases are produced in a way that is 99% waste-free – and hey, I’ve got to do something to offset all the others I’ve had to chuck in years gone by. Horizn’s luggage comes to you in reusable cotton dust bags, and they deliver their backpacks and accessories in PLA bags, which are plant-based and compostable. Plus, your order is shipped to you in recycled cardboard boxes which, of course, are recyclable too.Horizn’s Pro Collection comes in three sizes (36L, 61L and 98L) for both cabin and hold luggage needs – you can view the full collection (as well as their swanky M5 Pro version of the bag I tested) here.Related...I Found The Real-Life Brand Behind Gangs Of London's Best Briefcase, And It's My New ObsessionI Tried My Best To Wreck These Hiking Shoes In Iceland.
