'How Could You Watch 15,000 Children Be Killed?': Ms Rachel Addresses World Leaders Over Gaza

Charity organisations distribute meals to Palestinians in Al Maghazi Refugee Camp in the central Gaza Strip on May 19, 2025. Ms Rachel has issued an impassioned plea to world leaders to step up and help the children of Gaza who are facing starvation and death.Israel has been blocking aid from reaching Gaza for 11 weeks now. The blockade is being used as a way to force Hamas to release the remaining hostages from the attacks on 7 October 2023.The BBC reported on 19 May that Israel said it had allowed five UN lorries carrying humanitarian aid into Gaza – but the UN’s humanitarian chief Tom Fletcher called it a “drop in the ocean”.The UN has warned 14,000 babies could die in Gaza in the next 48 hours if no aid reaches them. In a desperate plea issued five hours ago, parenting YouTuber Ms Rachel – whose name is Rachel Griffin Accurso – shared a photo and video of Siwar Ashour, a severely malnourished baby from Gaza.Ashour was born with an issue that affects her oesophagus and relies on specialised formula milk, which the Guardian reports is in critically short supply. The parenting YouTuber wrote: “Dear World Leaders, you need to not let this baby die.“Miles away is everything needed to save her life & you need to find a way to get it to her. She is so weak she can’t even cry! Please, please, please help her.”View this post on InstagramA post shared by Ms Rachel (@msrachelforlittles)She continued: “Whatever religion you are, I know it does not tell you to let this baby starve. If you are not religious, I know your moral compass tells you to not let this baby starve. Whatever is causing you to not speak up for this baby is not more important than her life and your humanity.“Please imagine a baby you love. Do you think she is different than that baby? Do you think Palestinian children are not like other children? You must have convinced yourself they are or how could you look away? How could you be silent? How could you watch 15,000 children be killed?”Since the war began in 2023, over 50,000 Palestinians have reportedly been killed. Unicef said 15,000 of these were children.“All babies have the potential to thrive and to grow up into happy, healthy adults. They are entrusted to us all as a collective people to nurture, nourish, love and care for,” Accurso continued.“We are not meant to starve and kill and bomb children. Don’t we all know that?”The former teacher said that as an expert in early childhood development, she knows “how malnutrition and trauma affect brain development and can have life long consequences”.She concluded her emotional plea: “Please save this baby and all of the children who are suffering from malnutrition. They need food and medical care. They need us to be brave. They need you to see them as children so stop looking away & see them.”In response to her post, one parent wrote: “As a Jewish mother, Im imploring all Jewish people to rise up and do whatever you can to stop this genocide. Our relatives who died in the Holocaust NEVER wanted this.”Another said: “God bless you for not giving up on these babies.”Rachel Griffin AccursoOn 19 May, Britain, France and Canada threatened a response if Israel continued with its renewed military offensive – Gaza is facing “relentless airstrikes” which have reportedly killed 3,000 people in the last two months – and didn’t lift restrictions on humanitarian aid.The governments called on the Israeli government to “stop its military operations in Gaza and immediately allow humanitarian aid to enter Gaza”.It also called on Hamas to “release immediately the remaining hostages they have so cruelly held since 7 October 2023”.A statement from the three governments read: “We will not stand by while the Netanyahu government pursues these egregious actions. If Israel does not cease the renewed military offensive and lift its restrictions on humanitarian aid, we will take further concrete actions in response.” In response, Israel’s leader posted on X: “By asking Israel to end a defensive war for our survival before Hamas terrorists on our border are destroyed and by demanding a Palestinian state, the leaders in London, Ottowa and Paris are offering a huge prize for the genocidal attack on Israel on October 7 while inviting more such atrocities.“The war can end tomorrow if the remaining hostages are released, Hamas lays down its arms, its murderous leaders are exiled and Gaza is demilitarized.“No nation can be expected to accept anything less and Israel certainly wont. This is a war of civilization over barbarism. Israel will continue to defend itself by just means until total victory is achieved.”Related...Netanyahu Rejects Growing Pressure From UK, France And Canada Over Gaza'Let The Children Eat': Israel Is Starving Gaza To Death, Doctors And Experts Warn‘The Worst It’s Been In 18 Months’: How You Can Help Gaza After Weeks Without Aid
