'I Do Hate That Man': Jeremy Clarkson Rips Into Keir Starmer Over Farming Row
Keir Starmer and Jeremy ClarksonJeremy Clarkson has ripped into Keir Starmer yet again, this time over his farming policies. The Top Gear presenter-turned-farmer is not shy when it comes to bashing the Labour prime minister, having previously accusing him of being a “Marxist” for his U-turning over his welfare reforms and banning him from his pub The Farmer’s Dog last August. And it seems Clarkson’s rage towards Starmer has certainly not diminished over the last 12 months.Asked this morning if the PM was still banned, he told Times Radio: “Oh God, yes. I hate very few people in life but I do hate that man. He’s awful. He’s definitely banned. He’s just so flippant about farmers.“Whenever you ask him [about farmers] it’s just like, ‘Well who cares about them?’ And that’s one of the things I really dislike.”Clarkson then touched on Starmer’s joint press conference with Donald Trump on Monday when the US president mentioned how he has wiped out inheritance tax on almost all farms, aside from the most expensive estates in the US.It’s the opposite tactic to the one adopted by Starmer, who controversially decided to reduce the amount of inheritance tax relief awarded to farmers with the largest estates.Clarkson himself even joined the widespread protests around Westminster campaigning against the policy change last year. While Trump avoided mentioning Starmer’s decision directly, during their joint press conference he told reporters: “We ended the estate tax. There’s no estate tax on farmers, so when a parent leaves their farm – because a lot of these farms, they don’t make a lot of money, but it’s a way of life and they love that life.”Clarkson also told Times Radio: “And then I watched him [Starmer] with Trump, you know, trying to argue, ‘well we haven’t really touched them’. Well, you have you know.”However, he added: “But again I would dearly love to talk to people at Defra [Department of Environment, Farming and Rural Affairs] and hopefully will do, saying you know this TB business – is there not a better way to address this really?”Clarkson also revealed this week that his farm, Diddly Squat, will be shut for two months following an outbreak of Bovine Tuberculuosis (TB).“It’s awful, it is awful,” he told Times Radio. “You have a test every six months on the cows and then you sort of become blasé, it’s a hypothetical threat.“And then the vet looks up as he did yesterday lunchtime and said ‘I’m really sorry this one’s failed’. So that means we’re now locked down and it’s just dreadful, absolutely dreadful.”Related...Jeremy Clarkson Brands JD Vance A 'Tw*t' Over Apparent Jibe At UK And FranceJeremy Clarkson Addresses Claims He Broke The Rules On Latest Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?Jeremy Clarkson Says He Cannot Be Friends With Anyone Who Voted For Brexit
