Jimmy Kimmel Taunts Trump With Devastating Reminder Of Just How Unpopular He Is
Jimmy Kimmel opened his latest show with a message that’s likely to get under President Donald Trump’s skin. “I am more popular than the president of the United States,” he declared, referring to a new poll from The Economist and YouGov that finds more Americans approve of Kimmel than Trump. The poll found that 44% of Americans approve of Kimmel, versus 41% who disapprove, while just 41% approve of Trump compared with 54% who disapprove.“I lead Trump by 16 points,” Kimmel said. “I’m at plus three, he’s at minus 13.”But Kimmel did see a downside to those numbers. “Considering the fact that I’m not a convicted felon, friend of Jeffrey Epstein, and I’ve never paid off a porn star, sent a team of masked goons into a park to pull an old lady away from her grandchildren, I feel like my rating should be higher maybe even?” he said. “At this point, finding a toenail in your salad has a seven-point lead over Donald Trump.” Trump has repeatedly attacked Kimmel. During his first term, he reportedly tried to have Kimmel censored. When Kimmel was suspended last month, Trump gloated ― then threw a fit when his show returned to television. That caused Kimmel to snark about the new poll. “I hope he doesn’t see this,” Kimmel said as he discussed the new poll. “You know I don’t like to upset him, but I think he might be upset.”The White House released a statement attacking Kimmel over the poll, saying 77 million Americans voted for Trump in last year’s election.“Jimmy Kimmel prays every night to garner a fraction of that support to keep his show on air after ratings dropped 64 percent last week,” a White House spokesperson told Newsweek. “Sad!”Kimmel said he liked the “Sad!” part of the response with the exclamation point. “It would make a nice T-shirt with Trump’s face on it, wouldn’t it?” he suggested. “You know what else is sad? That the president of the United States has a lower approval rating than Diddy and diarrhoea. That’s what’s sad.” See more in his Monday night monologue:
