Joe Lycett Reacts To His Latest TV Baftas Win In Typically Understated Fashion

Joe Lycett on Lorraine in April 2025Joe Lycett has reacted to his win at the TV Baftas in his own imitable way.On Sunday night, the comedian picked up the gong for Best Entertainment Performance for the second year running thanks to his hosting stint on the anarchic Channel 4 variety show Late Night Lycett. And while Joe wasn’t there on the night to accept his award, he celebrated the news on Instagram the following day.“Thank you Bafta for my (THIRD!!!??) award last night. The lame-stream media said I wasn’t there but the first two pics surely prove otherwise,” he quipped, alongside two pictures of screen legend Elizabeth Taylor holding her own Bafta.Joe’s post also included pictures of himself holding his latest award, while praising “all the team who worked on Late Night Lycett”, singling out co-writer James Kettle and his team, “without whom I would’ve just stared at the camera silently”.Check out Joe’s post for yourself here.Elizabeth Taylor at the Baftas in 1999In 2023, Joe was also absent when he won his first TV Bafta for his consumer affairs show Joe Lycett’s Got Your Back. However, he still managed to steal the show with his speech – delivered by one of his Got Your Back colleagues – which lampooned the then-very-topical rumours surrounding the fall-out between ex-This Morning hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.A year later, he did make it to the awards show, where his outfit on the red carpet raised just as many eyebrows as his speech. While accepting the award for Best Entertainment Performance, he gave a nod to his “mum and dad… Anne Boleyn and Henry VIII”, while sporting glammed-up Elizabethan attire.Accepting Joe’s award on Sunday night, Taskmaster host Greg Davies quipped: “Unfortunately, ladies and gentlemen, Joe can’t make it tonight, but I’m sure he’ll be absolutely thrilled to get this. Except he won’t be getting it, because I’m going to keep it. Goodbye.” Check out the full list of winners from this year’s TV Baftas here.READ MORE:Joe Lycett Opens Up About How He's Finding Fatherhood After Welcoming A Baby BoyJoe Lycett Suggests 'Great British Press' Forced His Hand Into Announcing He'd Become A DadJoe Lycett Has Some Choice Words For Nigel Farage In His Own Inimitable Style
