John Torode Addresses MasterChef Exit During First Public Appearance Since Leaving The Show
John TorodeJohn Torode made his first public appearance since losing his long-held position as a judge and presenter on MasterChef over the weekend.Earlier this year, following an external investigation about his conduct behind the scenes, it was announced that Gregg Wallace would be leaving MasterChef after almost 20 years at the helm.Shortly afterwards, it was also confirmed that John had been let go by the show after a complaint about his use of alleged racist language was upheld, though he has insisted he has “no recollection of what I’m accused of”.On Sunday, John presented at the Festival of Food and Drink in Nottinghamshire, where the Standard reported that he told attendees: “Life goes on! I’ve had a lot of support and I’m very grateful.”During the event, John gave a cooking demonstration, and when one fan claimed his exit was a “stitch-up”, the Daily Mail reported that he “gave a wry smile but didn’t respond”.His wife Lisa Faulkner, who he met when she competed on Celebrity MasterChef, also told the outlet: “MasterChef will not be the same without John. But he’s doing OK.”View this post on InstagramA post shared by Festival of Food & Drink (@festivaloffooddrink)The latest season of MasterChef was filmed towards the end of last year, before the investigation got underway, meaning both Gregg and John were still featured as hosts. However, their screen-time was drastically cut (with occasionally-distracting results, as pointed out by some viewers), while some contestants requested to be edited out of the series completely.Earlier this month, the BBC revealed that MasterChef’s new judging and presenting line-up will be made up of Grace Dent, who has long been a contributor to the show, and Anna Haugh, a former judge on Masterchef: The Professionals.Prior to that, it had been revealed that Saturday Kitchen host Matt Tebbutt would be taking over Gregg Wallace’s old slot on Masterchef: The Professionals.READ MORE:MasterChef Contestant Confirms Why She Was Edited Out Of This Year's SeriesGregg Wallace Breaks Silence After More Than Half Of Masterchef Allegations UpheldHere's What Penny Lancaster Had To Say About Husband Rod Stewart's Gregg Wallace Post
