Julia Fox Speaks Out Amid Backlash Over Her Controversial Halloween Look
Julia Fox pictured last weekJulia Fox has opened up about the rationale behind her controversial Jackie Kennedy Halloween outfit, defending the look “not as a costume, but as a statement”. Last week, the Uncut Gems actor attended writer and comedian Julio Torres’ “Cursed Amulet” party in New York, with her choice of clothes immediately sparking debate about whether or not it was an appropriate look. She then addressed the matter directly in an Instagram post, sharing a picture of herself dressed as the former First Lady on the day of her husband John F. Kennedy’s assassination in 1963, featuring her recreation of the iconic pink suit covered in blood.“I’m dressed as Jackie Kennedy in the pink suit. Not as a costume, but as a statement,” Julia wrote on Instagram. She referenced how the figure refused to change out of her bloodied clothes and reportedly said: “Let them see what they have done.”Julia Fox at Julio Torres' "The Cursed Amulet" Halloween party on Thursday night“The image of the delicate pink suit splattered with blood is one of the most haunting juxtapositions in modern history,” Julia continued. “Beauty and horror. Poise and devastation. Her decision not to change clothes, even after being encouraged to, was an act of extraordinary bravery. “It was performance, protest, and mourning all at once. A woman weaponising image and grace to expose brutality. It’s about trauma, power, and how femininity itself is a form of resistance. Long live Jackie O”. View this post on InstagramA post shared by Julia Fox (@juliafox)The comments on Julia’s Instagram post were also turned off.Meanwhile one of JFK’s grandsons, Jack Schlossberg, has condemned Julia’s costume as “disgusting”, writing on X: “Julia Fox glorifying political violence is disgusting, desperate and  dangerous. I’m sure her late grandmother would agree.”The real Jackie Kennedy’s suit is preserved in Maryland – in the same condition it was in on the day of the president’s assassination – as a material of historical importance, with the Kennedy family reportedly requesting it stays out of public view until 2103. Julia recently spoke to HuffPostUK about her new movie Him, discussing her relationship with the horror genre, as well as her thoughts on fame and feeling “good enough” to be in a mainstream studio film, after paying her dues in indie movies. She hasn’t been the only star to share her Halloween costume this year, though, with Heidi Klum continuing her tradition of going all out for the occasion and plenty of other celebrities following suit.  READ MORE:19 Celebrities Who Went All Out With Their Halloween Costumes This YearAs Heidi Klum Holds Onto Her Title As Queen Of Halloween, Here's Every Amazing Costume She's Ever Worn'I Feel Good Enough To Be Here': Julia Fox Opens Up About Her Exciting Next Step
