Kids Keeping Saying 'Six-Seven' And Nobody Seems To Know What It Means

Another day, another weird phrase doing the rounds among Gen Alpha. We’ve recently covered off Ballerina Cappuccina, what the sigma?!, as well as problematic words used by teens like “bop” and the condescending response of “good boy”.If your child is currently responding with “six-seven” then they’re certainly not alone – nor are you the only person who’s confused as hell by what it means. As one person recently shared in response to a TikTok video on the phrase: “Someone tell me what this means or I’m gonna scream.”The saying seems to have originated from the drill rap Doot Doot (6 7) by Skrilla and has also been associated with basketball player LaMelo Ball who is – yep, you guessed it – 6′7″.It has since become incredibly popular on TikTok (of course it has), with people using the song, and edited footage of the basketball player, to create 6-7 memes... and now kids use it at every opportunity. But what does it mean?According to Parents: “Some say it means ‘so-so’, especially since kids often pair the phrase with an up-and-down hand motion. Others argue it refers to a person who is tall, some think it stands for a basketball term, and so on.”Reaffirming the “so-so” meaning, one person shared on TikTok: “6-7 is like on a scale of 1-10. 1 being the worst, and 10 being the best, you’re at a 6-7 good but not great.”Kids have been asking questions like “how tall are you?” or “what score did you get on your test?” only to then respond, “six-sevennnnnn”.Another TikTok user suggested: “It means anything you want basically ... you can use it in any context and it’ll make sense because it doesn’t make sense.”OK...Perhaps TikTok creator and teacher Philip Lindsay sums it up the best. He said in an explainer video: “It’s actually meaningless. It means nothing.”Related...WTF Is Ballerina Cappuccina – And Why Does My Kid Keep Saying It?The Grim Reason Your Kid Keeps Saying 'Good Boy' – And How To Respond When They DoNo, Parents Aren't Clocking Off At 3pm – Saying They Are Is Deeply Unhelpful
