Liz Truss Changes Her Tune On The 2012 Olympics Opening Ceremony In Latest Rant

Liz Truss has criticised the opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympic Games in London, despite praising it in the past. In her latest bizarre rant, the former prime minister claimed that the spectacular ceremony did not express “the views of the average Briton”.However, speaking in 2013, she said the ceremony had “seamlessly combined Isambard Kingdom Brunel and William Shakespeare, Tim Berners-Lee and Mary Poppins”.Truss – who lasted 49 days as prime minister before being forced to resign – made her apparent U-turn while being interviewed by American right-winger Ben Shapiro.“The views expressed in the Olympics ceremony are not the views of the average Briton,” she said.Director Danny Boyle earned widespread plaudits for the 2012 ceremony, which was called “Isles of Wonder” and focused on British achievements throughout history.They included the NHS, the industrial revolution, as well as the country’s contribution to the arts, technology and social progress.The highlight was a spectacular sketch involving James Bond and the Queen parachuting into the Olympic stadium.Elsewhere in her interview, Truss repeated her attacks on the “elite” who she says run Britain.She said: “We need to galvanise the people who are patriots in our country, but they have been neglected.
