Loved 28 Years Later? Here's Where To Stream 28 Days Later And 28 Weeks Later
Ralph Fiennes, Jodie Comer and Alfie Williams in 28 Years Later28 Years Later has wound up becoming one of the biggest movie events of 2025.But whether you were already a fan of Danny Boyle’s apocalyptic horror series, or 28 Weeks Later was your first brush with the “infected”, you might well now be finding yourself wanting to dive back into the rest of the films in the franchise. So, if one horrific encounter with the rage virus wasn’t enough, here’s a quick guide to where you can check out the other films…28 Days LaterCillian Murphy in 28 Days LaterAs the name suggests, the first movie in the series, 28 Days Later, begins just shy of a month after the outbreak of a virus that’s turning the British population into zombie-like creatures called the “infected”.Cillian Murphy takes the lead in this first movie as bike courier Jim, who wakes up from a coma to discover the country has been swept by the so-called “rage virus”, and is left fighting for his survival, alongside a cast that also includes Naomie Harris, Brendan Gleeson and Christopher Eccleston.28 Days Later is currently streaming on Now – but if you don’t have a subscription, you don’t need to worry, as it’s also available to watch for free on BBC iPlayer until mid-July.28 Weeks LaterRobert Carlyle runs from the infected in 28 Weeks LaterWhile the sequel to 28 Days Later is set just months after the events of the first film, it was actually released five years later.Danny Boyle was unable to direct this film due to his commitments with the sci-fi psychological thriller Sunshine, but stayed on as an executive producer, with Spanish filmmaker Juan Carlos Fresnadillo taking over at the helm.As well as a new director and timeline, 28 Weeks Later also introduces a new host of characters, played by the likes of Robert Carlyle, Rose Byrne, Jeremy Renner and Idris Elba. The sequel is somewhat less revered than its predecessor, but it still got pretty good reviews (Danny Boyle recently defended 28 Weeks Later, after making the decision to retcon the film’s ending in his latest offering, 28 Years Later). If you wanted to stream 28 Weeks Later, you’re pretty spoiled for choice, as at the time of writing it is currently streaming on Netflix, Disney+ and Prime Video.28 Years Later: The Bone TempleAlfie Williams and Ralph Fiennes on the set of 28 Years LaterDanny Boyle has made no secret of his hopes for 28 Years Later to begin a brand new blockbuster trilogy, the second part of which has actually already been shot.Titled The Bone Temple, the new sequel was filmed simultaneously with 28 Years Later, with Candyman and The Marvels filmmaker Nia DaCosta on directing duties this time around, and picks up right after the shock twist ending of the most recent film. The Trainspotting director previously teased that the next film will be rather different tonally from his, claiming: “The nature of the first film is about family. The second film is about the nature of evil. And you’re about to meet a lot more of them when it’ll be more appropriate to talk about them in the second film.”Nia DaCosta and Danny Boyle at CinemaCon earlier this yearExcitingly, Danny also teased that Cillian Murphy will also be returning in the new film, although he refused to comment any further than that.28 Years Later is in cinemas now, with 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple slated for release 16 January 2025 – which, yes, is exactly 28 weeks on from its predecessor…The third movie has not actually been officially greenlit yet, but given the positive reviews and high box office figures for 28 Years Later (plus the added star power of Oscar winner Cillian Murphy!) we don’t think it’ll be long. READ MORE:28 Years Later Director Danny Boyle Reveals Meaning Behind That Truly Wild Twist Ending28 Years Later Viewers Are Still In Shock From That Teletubbies Callback In The Wild Final Scene28 Years Later 'Alpha' Chi Lewis-Parry Answers Everyone's 1 Big Question About The Film
