Macaulay Culkin Has An Idea For Home Alone Reboot That People Actually Kind Of Love

Macaulay CulkinOver the last 30 years, Home Alone has climbed to the top of the festive movie pantheon, and is now a must-watch for millions the world over in the lead-up to Christmas.Even its sequel, Home Alone 2: Lost In New York is revered by manu as a seasonal classic (although admittedly these days there’s one bit we do have to avert our eyes during), but the numerous spin-offs that have followed in the years since haven’t exactly lived up to the original films’ classic status. However, its original lead, former child star Macaulay Culkin, has admitted he has his own ideas about how to reboot the series – and we have to admit we’re kind of here for it.“I kind of had this idea,” Variety quoted Macaulay as saying during the latest stop on his A Nostalgic Night With Macaulay Culkin, before revealing that in his vision, a grown-up Kevin McAllister is now “either a widower or a divorcee”.He said: “[Kevin is] raising a kid and all that stuff. [He’s] working really hard and [he’s] not really paying enough attention and the kid is kind of getting miffed at [him].”“And then I get locked out,” he continued. “He won’t let me in… and he’s the one setting traps for me.”Macaulay Culkin as Kevin McAllister in Home AloneMacaulay added that he thinks the house should be “some sort of metaphor for our relationship”, and that he’s “not completely allergic” to returning to Home Alone, as long as the idea is “right”.Interestingly, while reboot and sequel fatigue has long since set in among many film fans, people actually seem pretty on board with Macaulay’s pitch for a return to the Home Alone franchise…Would watch. https://t.co/0kgBsE7jSM— Amon Warmann (@AmonWarmann) November 26, 2025waittttt why'd he eat actually https://t.co/z5YjZqrrDu— max nation supreme leader (@mlmferdinand) November 26, 2025pic.twitter.com/oi22LIG4Nn— kenny (@relientkenny) November 26, 2025Me: I’m so sick of Hollywood legacy sequelsMacaulay: The house is some sort of metaphor for our relationshipMe: https://t.co/eHpwv1UKWgpic.twitter.com/xxvjaoY63e— A.
