Met Gala 2025: 19 Must-See Looks From The Red Carpet

Met Gala 2025Every pop culture aficionado will already know that the first Monday in May is a key date in the showbiz calendar, as it marks the annual Met Gala fundraiser. And for those of us in the UK, the first Tuesday in May means waking up to an absolute deluge of red carpet photos to sift through while we try and decide which A-listers’ looks we liked the best. This year’s Met Ball coincided with the Metropolitan Museum Of Art’s new exhibit in its Costume Institute titled Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, with the dress code being “tailored for you”.So, who went all out and who ignored the theme completely? Here are 21 of the night’s most talked-about looks as worn by figures from across the entertainment industry...RihannaWhen it comes to the Met Ball, Rihanna never misses, and this year’s was no exception, as she once again completely nailed the night’s theme while also staying true to her own sense of style.Of course, the look also served as a pregnancy reveal, with Rihanna and her partner A$AP Rocky (who was one of the event’s co-chairs) announcing on the red carpet that they’re expecting their third child.  Colman DomingoAnother of the night’s co-chairs was two-time Oscar nominee Colman Domingo. He actually served two looks on the red carpet, the first of which paid tribute to fashion legend and Vogue editor-at-large André Leon Talley, who died in 2022.Colman then seamlessly changed into his second look in full view of the press and photographers. As ever, he embraced the evening’s dress code with a look that incorporated unique and clean tailoring, bold clashing patterns and eye-catching jewellery.ZendayaYou never quite know what Zendaya is going to serve at the Met Ball and that’s why she’s become one of the world’s most talked-about fashionistas. In stark contrast to last year’s maximalist extravaganza, this time around, Zendaya kept it much more low-key in this gorgeous white suit and white hat detail. Is it a little simple? Admittedly, yes, but it’s so well-made (and, indeed, well-modelled by the Dune star) that it’s still a true stand-out of the night.Lewis HamiltonAs the sole Brit on the Met Gala committee this year (besides Anna Wintour herself, of course) we’re happy to see that Lewis Hamilton did us proud when it came to the red carpet.Berets were a big thing at the fundraiser in 2025, with Lewis’ tying together this cream-coloured look with gold details. DoechiiThis year marked woman of the hourDoechii’s Met Gala debut – and she delivered one of our favourite looks of the night.Decked out in head-to-toe Louis Vuitton, get a close zoom in on the Anxiety rapper’s face to see just how much she went in all in for the French fashion house on the red carpet. Lauryn HillLauryn Hill isn’t exactly known as one of those stars who’ll turn up to the opening of an envelope – so if she’s showing up to the Met Ball, you know she’s going to turn it out.And turn it out she did, sporting an all-yellow look that really delivered on the theme. Meanwhile, her bedazzled hand-held fan was our favourite accessory of the whole event.Tramell TillmanThanks in no small part to the much-lauded second season of Severance,  Tramell Tillman’s time is now, and he definitely didn’t waste his spot on the Met Gala red carpet. While monochromatic is a difficult one to make stand out, especially when it comes to men’s fashion, he and his team more than managed it. Who doesn’t love a cape?Diana RossMuch as we loved Tramell’s cape, the train of the evening undoubtedly belonged to Diana Ross.A decade on from Rihanna’s first viral Met Gala moment, the former Supremes star made her way into the same event in this 18-foot train, which kind of took our breath away (and featured a very sweet detail you might have missed). Jodie Turner-SmithAt first glance, this is absolutely stunning, and the longer we look at the British star’s Burberry dream, the more details we keep noticing. In a word: it’s a serve.Janelle MonáeNo one could ever accuse Janelle Monáe of playing it safe with their fashion – especially at the Met Gala.Had Colin Firth not already done such a stellar job as the Penguin, we can only imagine Warner Bros. would be on the phone to Janelle’s people right now... Sarah SnookIf there’s one thing we really enjoy at the Met Gala, it’s when someone we weren’t necessarily looking out for surprises us by going all out.Kudos to Succession star Sarah Snook for embracing the night’s theme with a look that’s both really fun but still really chic.Doja CatDoja Cat is a woman who’s never met a red carpet she hasn’t thrown everything she’s got at.She’s also one of the most unpredictable stars when it comes to what she’s going to wear, as evidenced by this look that includes towering heels, unique silhouettes all-round and an oversized blazer-leotard combo that not everyone could pull off as well as the Paint The Town Red rapper.Bad BunnyWhile his male peers have played it safe at past Met Galas, Bad Bunny has never been afraid to step outside the box (he’s actually responsible for one of our all-time favourite Met Ball looks worn by a male guest). The men at this year’s event, it has to be said, have really upped their game – but the musician proved he’s still not one to be outdone in the fashion stakes, merging the night’s theme with his own heritage in the traditional Puerto Rican Pava ha.Patrick SchwarzeneggerThere’s not heaps to say about this one, we just happen to really like what Patrick Schwarzenegger opted for this year. As we mentioned above, a main takeaway from the 2025 Met Gala has been that it feels like a turning point for male guests making a bit more of an effort and thinking a bit more creatively... and long may that continue.Chappell RoanChappell Roan is another huge name walking the Met Gala red carpet for the first time in 2025, paying tribute to some of her fashion influences with this glamorous flared pink suit. The Good Luck, Babe! singer actually collaborated with designer Paul Tazewell, best known for his Oscar-winning work on the film Wicked, for this look.André 3000A massive piano strapped to his back? Sure! Why not? Hey – it’s not boring, is it? Cole EscolaFresh from their nomination at the upcoming Tonys, Cole Escola’s suit was undoubtedly on theme, while their hair and makeup looked like an homage to Liza Minnelli’s iconic look in Cabaret. MadonnaMadonna in a suit is always going to be a win for us, but this all-white ensemble (complete with a cigar, naturally) is a particular serve for the Queen of Pop.In fact, this might be the best ensemble she’s ever worn to the Met Ball, which is no mean feat for someone who’s been coming to the fundraiser for almost 30 years. LisaUnfortunately, though, not every Met Gala look from this year’s red carpet has made headlines for the reasons the guest was hoping for.Blackpink performer and White Lotus star Lisa has found herself at the centre of controversy over her look, which features embroidered portraits by Henry Taylor of prominent figures from Black history – including one of civil rights activist Rosa Parks in a rather intimate place.
