More Exciting Details Emerge About James Corden And Ruth Jones' Follow-Up To Gavin & Stacey
James Corden and Ruth Jones at The Royal Television Society Programme Awards in MarchJames Corden and Ruth Jones may have now put Gavin & Stacey behind them for good, but they’re about to get to work on a brand new project. On Monday morning, Deadline reported that the Gavin & Stacey stars and creators have been hard at work on a new show called The Choir, which they will co-write and appear in as leads.Per the US outlet, The Choir will be an eight-part comedy about a brother and sister – played by James and Ruth – who are reunited when he returns to their small English town after things in his life take a disastrous turn. However, while Gavin & Stacey was famously a BBC project, the duo’s new show will be exclusive to Apple TV+, which has previously had success with British shows including Ted Lasso and Slow Horses.HuffPost UK has contacted both James Corden and Ruth Jones’ teams for comment. Last week, The Sun reported that James and Ruth had signed a seven-figure deal with Apple’s streaming service, with the new series tipped to premiere in 2027.Gavin & Stacey originally ran for three seasons between 2007 and 2010, before returning for a Christmas special almost a decade after the show came to an end in 2019.This festive episode pulled in millions of viewers and ended on a cliffhanger that had fans gripped, with its creators announcing last year that one final special would air on Christmas Day, bringing the story to an end.Gavin & Stacey: The Finale was even more widely-watched, smashing the previous Christmas special’s record by pulling in 18.5 million viewers, with Ruth scooping a TV Bafta in the Best Female Performance In A Comedy category for her work as Nessa back in May.Following her win, Ruth told BBC News of her co-writer: “I often say he’s like my annoying, younger brother and I’m like [his] very bossy older sister, but it just seems to work.“We have such a good laugh together and we just love being in a room and writing together and I hope that that’s going to continue because Gavin & Stacey is now finished.”She added: “I can’t really say anything at the moment, but yeah, I’m sure we will come up with something in the future.”READ MORE:Ruth Jones Names 1 Reason Gavin & Stacey Really Is Done For GoodJames Corden Has A Controversial Take On This Gavin & Stacey Finale StorylineHere's Why This Tear-Jerking Scene From The Gavin & Stacey Finale Had To Be Rewritten
