Sean "Diddy" Combs pictured in 2020Netflix has announced a new documentary about the legal drama surrounding musician Sean Combs, better known as Diddy, is coming to the platform next week. The four-part series Sean Combs: The Reckoning was announced on Tuesday, a week before it’s due to begin streaming, and will combine “never-before-seen materials” and “exclusive interviews with those formerly in Combs’ orbit” to chart his meteoric rise to fame and very public fall from grace.Combs is currently serving a prison sentence of more than four years after being found guilty earlier this year of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution in relation to two of his ex-partners, including the singer Cassie. He was, however, acquitted of the most serious charges that had been made against him, including one count of racketeering conspiracy and two counts of sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion.Produced by Curtis Jackson (better known as the rapper 50 Cent), Sean Combs: The Reckoning was helmed by Alexandria Stapleton, whose past documentary work includes the Netflix offerings Hello, Privilege. It’s Me, Chelsea and The Playbook, as well as other docs like Reggie, Pride and How Music Got Free. Here’s a quick guide to what viewers can expect from Netflix’s latest project about Sean Combs…What is Netflix’s new Diddy documentary Sean Combs: The Reckoning about? An official synopsis from Netflix teases: “This documentary will lay out the story of a powerful, enterprising man and the gilded empire he built – as well as the underworld that lay just beneath its surface.”Sean Combs: The Reckoning. I wondered how she had the confidence to go out there against a mogul like Sean Combs.“As a filmmaker, I instantly knew it was a stress test of whether we’ve changed as a culture, as far as being able to process allegations like this in a fair way.”She insisted: “This isn’t just about the story of Sean Combs or the story of Cassie, or the story of any of the victims, or the allegations against him, or the trial.“Ultimately, this story is a mirror [reflecting us] as the public, and what we are saying when we put our celebrities on such a high pedestal. I hope [this documentary] is a wake-up call for how we idolise people, and to understand that everybody is a human being.”Who has been interviewed for the Netflix documentary Sean Combs: The Reckoning?Specifics are currently being kept under wraps, but Netflix has said that the series will feature exclusive interviews with Combs’ “former associates”, “childhood friends” and “employees”, as well as artists who have worked with him directly.Only one name has been confirmed for the documentary so far, with a snippet having already been released featuring the voice of Mark Curry.Curry famously collaborated with Combs on the track Bad Boy For Life, and was later signed to the disgraced mogul’s label, charting his experiences in the 2009 memoir Dancing With The Devil: How Puff Burned The Bad Boys Of Hip-Hop.When is Sean Combs: The Reckoning released on Netflix? All four episodes of Sean Combs: The Reckoning will be streaming from Tuesday 2 December. Is there a trailer for Sean Combs: The Reckoning?A 15-second teaser for the project was released when it was first announced, which you can watch for yourself below…Sean Combs: The Reckoning.
