Nigel Farage Accuser Claims Reform UK Leader Told Him 'Hitler Was Right'

Britain's Reform UK leader Nigel Farage speaks during a news conference last month.A Jewish former schoolmate of Nigel Farage has accused the Reform UK leader of telling him “Hitler was right” when they were boys.Peter Ettedgui claimed Farage also said “gas ’em” followed by a hissing sound in reference to the Holocaust.Speaking to the BBC’s Newsnight programme, Ettedgui said he was “really angry” at Farage’s denials of his accusations, which were initially made in The Guardian.He said: “The most vivid memories of my school life is Farage repeatedly coming up to me and, knowing that I was Jewish, saying ‘Hitler was right’ and ‘gas ‘em’ and that was frequently followed by imitating the sound of escaping gas.“As the grandchild of a couple who had escaped from Hitler and Nazi Germany, but whose families left behind perished in the Holocaust, this was extremely wounding and upsetting.”Shown a video of Farage saying his accusers were “not telling the truth”, Ettedgui said it made him feel “really angry”.Peter Ettedgui who was at Dulwich college with Nigel Farage, "My most vivid memories of my school life is Farage repeatedly coming up to me and knowing that I am Jewish saying 'Hitler was right' and 'gas them' which was frequently followed by a hissing sound of escaping gas"… pic.twitter.com/KIBH1Zpg4H— Farrukh (@implausibleblog) November 25, 2025Around 20 of Farage’s fellow pupils at Dulwich College told The Guardian they had experienced or witnessed racist behaviour by him.The Reform leader told ITV News on Tuesday that he had never racially abused anyone “in a hurtful or insulting way” when he was at school.He said: “It’s 49 years ago, it’s 49 years ago. I’d just entered my teens. Can I remember everything that happened at school? No I can’t.“Have I ever been part of an extremist organisation, or engaged in direct, unpleasant personal abuse, genuine abuse, on that basis? No.”After the journalist told him his answer was “very very caveated”, Farage said he had never racially abused a fellow pupil “with intent”.In a subsequent statement, Farage said: “I can tell you categorically that I did not say the things that have been published in The Guardian aged 13, nearly 50 years ago.“I’m probably the most scrutinised figure in British politics, having been in British politics for 32 years.“Several books and thousands of stories have been written about me, and it’s only now that my party’s leading in the polls that these allegations come out.
