No, Keir Starmer Did Not Tell Labour To 'Take Up Arms Against The Enemy'
Keir Starmer and Richard TiceRichard Tice claimed repeatedly today that Keir Starmer urged the Labour Party to “take up arms and go against the enemy” earlier this week. But this is demonstrably not true, as footage of the prime minister’s keynote speech to delegates at his party’s annual conference proves. The Reform UK deputy leader told Sky News that the prime minister “essentially given license to the far-left, the likes of Antifa, to essentially come at us, come at Nigel Farage.”Antifa is a MAGA term to describe anti-fascists.Tice insisted: “He literally used the words, ‘take up arms and go against the enemy’. It’s the most extraordinary language.“If we used that sort of language against our political opponents, we’d have had the police knocking on the door, it’s just outrageous and totally unbecoming of a prime minister of the United Kingdom.”When the Sky presenter challenged the claim that Starmer had been “inciting violence” against Farage, Tice replied: “It’s literally what he said on his speech. He said take up arms on the enemy.”Actually, footage from Starmer’s speech on Tuesday proves he said: “While we must come together to fight Reform with everything this movement has, we must go into that battle armed – not just with words but condemnation – but with action.“That means tackling all the problems they pray upon. All the problems.”The prime minister also promised Reform that Labour would “fight you with everything we have” and tore into their proposals for mass deportations to reduce immigration.Reform policy chief Zia Yusuf has accused Starmer of “inciting violence against Nigel Farage” with his language. But those claims were debunked by new Reform MP Danny Kruger. The Tory defector told Times Radio today: “I don’t think anyone’s suggesting that Keir Starmer personally would like to see Nigel Farage be violently attacked.”However, he also claimed the PM’s comments could “cause political trouble”, adding: “The consequence of what they’re doing and the effect of what they’re doing could well be incitement and I think they are doing it deliberately in this sense.”Reform has repeatedly accused the government of inciting violence against the party after Starmer’s address on Tuesday.Farage even set up a livestream moments after the PM’s speech claiming Starmer had “descended into the gutter” and that his words “directly threatens the safety of our elected officials”.Richard Tice: Keir Starmer "literally said take up arms against the enemy."This is complete bollocks from Tice.Keir Starmer: "We must come together to fight Reform.. we must go into that battle armed... with action, & that means tackling all the problems they pray upon" pic.twitter.com/zgBpTpqMDd— Haggis_UK 🇬🇧 🇪🇺 (@Haggis_UK) October 2, 2025Related...Sky News Presenter Clashes With Zia Yusuf Over Claim Starmer Is 'Inciting Violence' Against FarageLBC Presenter Mocks Nigel Farage's Claim Starmer Is Inciting Violence Against HimNigel Farage Accuses Keir Starmer Of Inciting Violence Against Reform Supporters
