NYT Reveals 'Admiring Note' Trump Once Wrote To Jeffrey Epstein
From left, American real estate developer Donald Trump and his girlfriend (and future wife), former model Melania Knauss, financier (and future convicted sex offender) Jeffrey Epstein, and British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell pose together at the Mar-a-Lago club, Palm Beach, Florida, February 12, 2000. As US President Donald Trump continues to downplay his ties to late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, reports keep popping up, shedding light on the extent of their relationship. The New York Times on Thursday published a photo of what it described as an “admiring note” Trump wrote to Epstein in a copy of his book Trump: The Art of the Comeback that belonged to the disgraced financier.“To Jeff — You are the greatest!” the inscription, signed Donald, reads. The message is dated October ’97, the month Trump’s book was published. The Times also released a photo of Trump and Epstein posing with singer James Brown, while noting that the location the image was taken remains unknown. When asked about the inscription, White House communications director Steven Cheung defended the president.  “The fact is that the President kicked him out of his club for being a creep. This is nothing more than a continuation of the fake news stories concocted by the Democrats and the liberal media,” he said in a statement. The Times’ reporting follows CNN’s publication this week of a photo of Epstein attending Trump’s wedding to Marla Maples in 1993 and footage of the two men laughing together during a Victoria’s Secret fashion event in 1999.Epstein died in federal prison in 2019, a month after he was arrested on charges of sex trafficking minors, during Trump’s first term in office. The renewed attention on Trump’s friendship with Epstein was prompted by a memo released by the Justice Department and the FBI earlier this month noting that there was no evidence to support that Epstein was killed or that he held a client list to blackmail people. The document undercut Attorney General Pam Bondi’s statement to Fox News in February that the client list was “sitting on my desk right now to review,” infuriating many of Trump’s supporters.Since then, further reports have raised uncomfortable questions for the White House, which has been trying to quell interest in the story. The Wall Street Journal on Wednesday reported that Bondi informed Trump in May that his name appeared several times in a “truckload” of Epstein documents reviewed by the DOJ. The White House decried the article as “fake news.”The Journal had previously angered Trump over a report detailing a “bawdy” letter he allegedly wrote to Epstein as part of a birthday surprise planned by British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell. Trump sued the newspaper for libel over the report, accusing the outlet of trying to “malign” his character and “deceptively portray him in a false light.”The Times on Thursday said Trump’s name appeared in the list of contributors to the scrapbook Maxwell planned for Epstein’s 50th birthday in 2003, while noting that the paper hasn’t independently reviewed the racy message reported by The Journal. The Times also published a handwritten note from Maxwell to Epstein included at the top of the album, saying she prepared the gift “to gather stories and old photographs to jog your memory about places, people and different events.”The Journal has since revealed that former President Bill Clinton was among those who contributed to the surprise. In a post on his Truth Social platform on Thursday, Trump, once again, described the Epstein controversy as a “SCAM” and a “HOAX,” even though he has reportedly expressed concerns privately about the damage it could cause him.“As things are revealed and, I hope will take place quickly, you will see that it is yet another Democrat CON JOB,” Trump wrote.Meanwhile, Maxwell is due to sit down with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche for the second day in a row as part of a DOJ effort to find out what else she knows about her former boyfriend. She is serving a 20-year sentence after she was convicted of helping Epstein sexually abuse minors.Related...Elizabeth Warren Slams Trump As 'Wannabe King' Amid Colbert Cancellation 'Coincidence'Trump Suddenly Wants Elon Musk To 'Thrive' Just Weeks After Threatening HimJeffrey Epstein Asked About Himself, Trump And Underage Girls In Resurfaced Video
