Penn Badgley Makes Honest Admission About Why He's 'Very Ready' For You To Be Over

Penn Badgley pictured in 2018Penn Badgley is making no secret of the fact that he’s quite happy to see the back of his You character, Joe Goldberg.The former Gossip Girl star can currently be seen in the fifth and final season of You, which premiered on Netflix last week.During an appearance on Thursday’s edition of The Tonight Show, host Jimmy Fallon asked Penn whether he felt “ready” for You to come to an end.“I’m very ready for it to end,” he responded.Penn explained: “I was 30 when I took the role. It’s been close to eight years, but the way that it ends up working out is that I will be 40 by the end of next year. And I’m probably still going to be talking about it, you know?“And that’s my 30s, right there. That’s a definitive event of my 30s. So that’s huge, you know?”While he remained tight-lipped on specific events, so as not to spoil the show for those who haven’t seen it, Penn added that he was happy with the way things turned out for his murderous character in the finale, claiming he admired the way that it “deconstructed” Joe.The You finale proved divisive among critics ahead of its premiere (as did the entire season, to be fair) – but Penn recently jumped to the last episode’s defence, and spoken out about why he thinks the producers and writers made the right decision when it came to Joe’s ending.All five seasons of You are available to stream now on Netflix.MORE YOU:Thought The Stars Of You Season 5 Looked Familiar?
