Putin Stoops To A New Low By Training Pre-School Children For Military, UK Says
Russian President Vladimir Putin speaks to prominent families and mothers awarded with the Mother Heroine title ahead of the International Children's Day via videoconference at the Kremlin in Moscow, Russia, Thursday, May 29, 2025. Vladimir Putin is now training pre-school children for life in the military, according to the UK.The British Ministry of Defence (MoD) announced in its latest update that there “has been a significant increase” in the number of Russian nurseries offering military cadet programmes for children.Officials cited independent Russian media outlet Verstka, which claims more than 100 kindergartens across the country were being taught hand-to-hand combat “in a playful manner”.They’re learning how to handle firearms and march, while also being introduced to “participants” of Putin’s invasion of Ukraine. Some cadet groups have been linked to particular armed services like police or border guards, according to open source reporting.Others are connected to the Russian Ministry of Defence youth programme, Yunarmiya, and the Kremlin youth group Movement of the First. The MoD alleged these pre-school cadet groups also form parts of a plan for a law on cadet education which is underway in Moscow. The officials said this likely “forms part of the highly likely continuing militarisation of Russian education”.“It is likely that the politicisation and militarisation of Russian education, coupled with increasing ideological indoctrination of Russian children more broadly, will perpetuate aggressive, expansionist Russian nationalism in the longer term,” the update read.Putin has been pushing his troops into Ukraine for almost four years, at an exceptionally high rate of attrition – his Russian forces exceeded a million casualties in June.He was recently slapped with new sanctions from Donald Trump after refusing to compromise over any peace deal, and insisting on the complete demilitarisation of Ukraine. The International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague has also had an arrest warrant out for the Russian president since March 2023 over alleged war crimes, including the forced deportation of Ukrainian children.Latest Defence Intelligence update on the situation in Ukraine - 01 November 2025.Find out more about Defence Intelligence's use of language: https://t.co/RrBz0SZFyc#StandWithUkrainepic.twitter.com/ghMZRcS2u4— Ministry of Defence 🇬🇧 (@DefenceHQ) November 1, 2025Related...'An Act Of War': Putin Ally Blasts Donald Trump Over Russian Oil SanctionsTrump’s Flip-Flopping Putin Policy Flips Again With New Russia SanctionsBBC Russia Expert Delivers Reality Check To Trump After Putin Talks Scrapped
