Putin's Spokesperson Tries To Gaslight The West Again With Latest Peace Claim
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov Vladimir Putin’s spokesperson rolled out a classic Kremlin falsehood this morning.A day after bombarding Ukraine with 700 drones, Dmitry Peskov told the press that Russia is still trying to “achieve our goals” through “peaceful” means.Of course, it was Russia who invaded its neighbour back in February 2022 in a brutal land grab, eight years after illegally annexing the Ukrainian peninsula of Crimea. And it is Moscow who currently controls around a fifth of Ukraine’s sovereign land, and is continually trying to push forward to take more.According to the US, more than 1.2 million people have been killed or injured since the war begun. The UK’s Ministry of Defence estimates that Russia alone has endured at least a million casualties. But Putin, a former KGB officer who is nostalgic for the Soviet Union, appears to believe Ukraine belongs to Russia – and so continues his barbaric war.And Peskov, the Kremlin’s spokesperson, bizarrely keeps up the pretense that Russia would rather a peaceful resolution to the conflict it started. He said: “We have repeatedly said that it would be preferable for us to achieve our goals through peaceful political and diplomatic means, but as long as this does not happen, a special military operation continues, and the reality on the ground is changing every day.”With that kind of messaging, it’s no wonder Peskov also insisted that peace talks between Russia and Ukraine have not stalled – even though Donald Trump has accused Putin of “throwing a lot of bullshit” around, and resumed US weapon shipments to Russia. But, when asked by Reuters if this had impacted peace talks, Peskov said: “No, I don’t think so. You cannot say that.”The US did initiate peace talks between Russia and Ukraine earlier this year, but Putin has repeatedly dragged his heels over the negotiations by adding a list of conditions which ultimately delayed further discussions. But Peskov suggested Russia was waiting for Ukraine to confirm it wanted a third round of talks. Russia is also standing firm by its demands for Ukraine to drop its Nato ambitions and withdraw its troops from the four occupied territories Putin wants to officially claim as his own.Related...Trump Just Called Out Putin's 'Bulls***' – But Don't Expect Anything To Change In UkraineTrump Accuses His Benefactor Putin Of Spewing ‘Bullshit’ About Ukraine InvasionFormer Russian Minister Found Dead In Car After Being Sacked By Putin
