Reform's Richard Tice Was Asked What The Party Has Achieved In Local Government – And Couldn't Answer
Susanna Reid and Richard Tice.Reform UK’s deputy leader was asked what his party would do if they win power at the local elections – but repeatedly dodged the question.Richard Tice was grilled by Susanna Reid on ITV’s Good Morning Britain as voters across England prepare to go to the polls on Thursday.Nigel Farage’s party are tipped to gain hundreds of seats and could even take control of some of the local councils which are up for grabs. So Reid asked Tice: “If you’re not just a protest party and you’re not just ‘don’t vote for them, vote for us’, what can you point to in local government that you have achieved?”Tice replied: “What we point to is the failure of the existing two parties ...”Reid then interrupted him to say: “No, that wasn’t my question. Anyone can point out failures of other parties. What have you achieved in local government?”The Reform MP said: “What we’re doing is saying to people ’look, your councils are broken, we will fix it. We will come in, we will save money, we will audit all of the expenditure, find out where the money’s going, the well-procured contracts but the many badly-procured contracts – hundreds of thousands of pounds on ergonomic chairs.”But Reid cut in again to tell Tice: “You’ve currently got 128 councillors, what have they achieved in local government so far?”Avoiding the question again, he replied: “What we are achieving is giving people the opportunity to say ’we’re done with the two main parties, someone else has got to come in, save some money, audit the finances and then sort things out because we can’t keep spending more than we’re earning and expect it to end well.”A new poll this week puts Reform UK out in front of Labour and the Conservatives if there was a General Election for MPs.@susannareid100 asks Deputy Leader of Reform UK, @TiceRichard, what the party has achieved in local government. pic.twitter.com/1ZsbGj7stT— Good Morning Britain (@GMB) April 30, 2025Related...Richard Tice Says Nigel Farage Is 'Rock Solid Behind Ukraine' But The Facts Say OtherwiseRichard Tice Cornered On BBC Question Time Over Reform UK's Attitude Toward UkraineRichard Tice Humiliated As He's Unable To Answer Most Basic Question About Reform's New Defectors
