Robert Jenrick Says Kemi Badenoch Is Doing 'A Bloody Good Job' Amid Leadership Rumours
Kemi Badenoch embraces her husband Hamish Badenoch after being elected Tory leader as Robert Jenrick looks on.Robert Jenrick has insisted Kemi Badenoch is doing “a bloody good job” amid speculation he is manoeuvring to become Tory leader. The shadow justice secretary said critics of Badenoch’s performance in the job should “give her a break”.He also denied that he wants to form a coalition with Reform UK and instead said he wants to “send Nigel Farage back to retirement”.Jenrick was secretly recorded talking about the “nightmare scenario” of Labour winning the next election because the Tories and Reform are “disunited”.He said: “I want the fight to be united. And so, one way or another, I’m determined to do that and bring this coalition together and make sure we unite as a nation as well.”But on ITV’s Good Morning Britain this morning, Jenrick denied that he was at odds with Badenoch on how to deal with the Reform UK threat to the Tories. He said: “Kemi Badenoch and I are on exactly the same page. Kemi has been very clear there won’t be a pact with Reform, and I’ve said time and again that I want to put Reform out of business. I want to send Nigel Farage back to retirement.“What I want to do, and Kemi feels the same, is bring back those voters that we lost, many of whom we lost to Reform at the last election, and we lost them because we let those people down. I understand that they feel angry and frustrated with the Conservative Party right now. We’re changing that.“The party is in under new leadership under Kemi Badenoch. Frankly, I think she’s doing a bloody good job in difficult circumstances. It’s not easy being leader of the opposition when we’ve just lost our worst ever election defeat. Frankly, I think people should give her a break.”Related...'She's Lost Control Of Her Party': Starmer Mocks Badenoch After Jenrick Hints At Reform 'Coalition''A Spectator Not A Leader': Starmer Hits Badenoch With Brutal Reminder Of Her Ministerial Record In PMQsAmol Rajan Left Bewildered By Kemi Badenoch's Approach To Leadership In Car Crash Interview
