Sarah Jessica Parker Defends This 1 Controversial Part Of The And Just Like That Finale
Sarah Jessica Parker in the last ever episode of And Just Like ThatThis article contains spoilers for the final episode of And Just Like That. And Just Like That star Sarah Jessica Parker is sticking up for the Sex And The City reboot over one of the most polarising aspects of its final episode. In the early hours of Friday morning, the last ever instalment of And Just Like That premiered in the UK, and while the show itself has never exactly been a favourite when it came to the reviews, the finale has been pretty unanimously slated by both fans of the franchise and critics. One particular issue people seem to have with the final episode is the fact that its central trio – Carrie Bradshaw, Miranda Hobbes and Charlotte York – never actually appear in the same scene, despite it supposedly being a send-off to the franchise that first started with Sex And The City.Asked about this creative decision by Vanity Fair, Sarah Jessica said: “Maybe the difference this time around is that there’s a confidence in not having to paint a portrait of a threesome, because the friendships are so rich. It’s threaded. If you’re a knitter, it’s an incredibly tight stitch.“So I don’t think we had to do that this time, because there’s decades of profound intimacy and friendship among these women.”Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon did not share the screen in the final episode of And Just Like That“The first time we ended the show, Carrie had been away,” she continued, referring to the original Sex And The City ending, which saw Carrie returning to New York from Paris. “But there was an assurance for all of us and the audience [this time around] that we were good, and they were strong, and there was real muscle behind the connection.“I think it’s said over and over again in every episode. They’re there. They’re keeping secrets. They’re protecting secrets. They’re there in the middle of the night. They’re there in the middle of the day. They can cover for one another. They can step in. They can retreat.“They can share spaces. They can not share spaces – and I’m not talking about the metaphorical space that we’ve all been talking about for the last year. I’m not talking about holding space. I’m talking about literal space.”Sarah Jessica continued: “I think all of that is illustrated all season, and that includes Seema and LTW. They are now part of this as well.“There’s a real kind of assuredness about, ‘They know’. The audience understands, and we don’t have to reassure them. Everybody’s well. Everybody’s good. Everybody is solid. Everybody ends together.”This isn’t the first time that Sarah Jessica has spoken out in defence of And Just Like That, though. Before the current season got underway, she spoke to HuffPost UK at certain criticisms that have been levelled at her iconic character, Carrie Bradshaw, in recent years – and gave an impassioned response.Sex And The City and And Just Like That are both streaming on Now in the UK.READ MORE:Missing And Just Like That Already?
