Screen Icon Richard Gere Tears Into 'Crazy' Trump: 'He's A Dark, Dark Presence'

Richard GereFilm star Richard Gere has hit out at Donald Trump, warning of the destruction he’s caused in the United States in a short space of time. “He’s not only crazy, he’s a dark, dark presence, and it’s happened so quickly,” he said in Barcelona earlier this week, according to Europa Press. “In six months, he’s almost destroyed our country.” Gere – who last year announced he was moving to Spain, where his wife, Alejandra Silva, is from – spoke out while attending the 10th anniversary of Open Arms, a Spanish NGO that performs search-and-rescue operations for migrants at sea.Donald TrumpThe star of films such as Pretty Woman, An Officer And A Gentleman and Chicago also said that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu “has to go”.He said: “This is not someone who can change. He has to go, and all the enablers in the coalition that he has together, they all have to go.” Gere said there are some “very, very good people on the Palestinian side.” “Unfortunately,” he observed, “most of them are in jail right now”. Earlier this year, Gere called Trump a “bully” and a “thug”, claiming that the United States was “in a very dark place” as a result of his presidency.
