Sirens Season 2: Will Netflix Renew The Show? Here's Everything We Know
Milly Alcock and Meghann Fahy play sisters in SirensFor the last few days, Sirens has proved to be a hit with viewers on both sides of the Atlantic – especially those of us seeking some luxurious drama in the style of The White Lotus or The Perfect Couple.Since it premiered, the five-part miniseries has been steadily climbing Netflix’s list of most-watched shows right now, and has also won over critics who have given it some pretty glowing reviews. But for anyone who’s already spent the weekend binge-watching Julianne Moore, Meghann Fahy and Milly Alcock in action, you may now be left wondering whether there could be more episodes to come in the future. And on that note, we’re afraid we’ve got good news and bad news…Will Sirens get a season 2 at Netflix?Right now, we’re afraid to say that it’s not really clear. The show was only commissioned for one season, and it’s based on a play Molly Smith Metzler, meaning that – for the time being, at least – it looks like the complete story has been told. However, there could be some glimmers of hope. First of all, Sirens is billed as a “Netflix series” on the platform, rather than a “limited series” or “miniseries”, meaning the door is definitely open for a follow-up season.Julianne Moore plays a mysterious billionaire in SirensIt’s also no secret that viewing figures tend to be a major motivating factor when it comes to whether or not they renew their original series, meaning even some of its most acclaimed shows get axed if they don’t pull in the numbers (are we still better about them pulling the plug on Kaos last year? Maybe…).As we mentioned above, Sirens is sitting comfortably in Netflix’s most-watched chart, so we’d say one good way to try and push for more episodes in the future is to keep on streaming – and tell your friends to watch, too. What have the cast of Sirens said about a possible season 2?Both Meghann Fahy and Milly Alcock have said they’d be up for revisiting the world of Sirens in the future.During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Milly considered what was next for her character, saying: “I can imagine Simone being pregnant. And I’d be interested to see if she became less like Michaela or more like Michaela, because now there’s no blueprint into who she’s expected to be, because she’s attained wealth, so she’s attained freedom and security, so she doesn’t have to chase that and pretend to be someone else.“So I’m curious to see [how that would turn out]. I feel like she could be this hippy-dippy yogi, you know what I mean?”Meghann Fahy then let slip that she and Sirens creator Molly Smith Metzler (playwright of the original play, as well as creator of the new TV adaptation) have already “talked a little bit” about what’s next for Devon (“because… we just did,” she added cryptically).“We think Devon has definitely stayed sober,” she said. “We think that’s something that she stays with. And that she doesn’t see Ray anymore, or work at Falafel balls.“I would really like it if she met someone that she could be with in a real way. That would be really sweet.”Asked about the potential for another season by Variety, Meghann also said: “[Sirens] ends in a very natural way, but I can imagine what the characters’ worlds become.“I, for one, would love to know what happens to Michaela, where she goes. So I think it’s definitely within the realm of possibility. We didn’t talk about it on set, but I would love to do more.”All five episodes of Sirens are now streaming on Netflix.MORE NETFLIX:These Are Our 9 Top Picks Of The New Shows And Films Streaming On Netflix This MayAmbika Mod Highlights Double Standard When Comparing Her Career To One Day Co-Star Leo Woodall'sStephen Graham Reveals How He Really Feels About A Potential Adolescence Season 2
