Strictly Come Dancing Unveils Last-Minute Replacement For Dani Dyer On This Year's Line-Up
Dani DyerStrictly Come Dancing has unveiled an eleventh-hour replacement for Dani Dyer on this year’s series.Dani was one of the original 15 contestants due to be taking part in the new season of Strictly, but was forced to withdraw earlier this week after sustaining an injury during training. On Friday morning, with one day to go until the first Strictly live show of the year, it was announced that fellow Love Island winner Amber Davies would be taking over Dani’s spot on the line-up.Like Dani, Amber will be paired up with Nikita Kuzmin as her professional partner.View this post on InstagramA post shared by BBC Strictly (@bbcstrictly)Since winning Love Island in 2017, Amber has carved a new career for herself as a musical theatre performer, appearing in productions like 9 To 5, Pretty Woman and Back To The Future.Amber also appeared on the penultimate series of Dancing On Ice last year. She admitted: “This has been the craziest 24 hours of my life. I’ve watched Strictly with my family since I was younger and to now be part of the show is a dream come true.”“I’m going to give it my all and I am sending Dani well wishes for a speedy recovery,” Amber added. “I hope I do her proud.”Dani previously explained: “I had a fall on Friday in rehearsals and landed funny. I thought I had rolled my foot but it swelled up badly over the weekend and after an MRI scan yesterday, it turns out I have fractured my ankle.“Apparently doing the quickstep on a fracture is not advisable (!!) and the doctors have said I am not allowed to dance so l’ve had to pull out of the show.”She added: “To say I’m heartbroken is the biggest understatement. I am so going to miss dancing with Nikita but will of course be watching closely and cheering all the couples on.”Dani was actually the second of this year’s cast to be forced to pull out of the show on medical grounds, after Game Of Thrones actor Kristian Nairn.Kristian was replaced by soap star Lewis Cope, who emerged as a frontrunner following his performance in last week’s pre-recorded launch show.MORE STRICTLY:'Gutted' Nikita Kuzmin Breaks Silence On Dani Dyer's Early Strictly Come Dancing ExitDianne Buswell Hits Back After Hurtful Comment About Her Competing On Strictly While PregnantStrictly Pro Nancy Xu Shares How She's Really Feeling About Not Having A Partner This Year
