Strictly Pro Nancy Xu Shares How She's Really Feeling About Not Having A Partner This Year
Strictly Come Dancing performer Nancy XuStrictly Come Dancing professional Nancy Xu has admitted she has mixed feelings about the fact that she doesn’t have a celebrity partner on the show’s current series.Over the weekend, this year’s Strictly pairings were officially announced, but because there are 20 dancers in the show’s resident troupe and only 15 contestants, a handful were left on the bench, including Nancy.Posting on Instagram on Tuesday, the Chinese performer shared a short video which began with scenes of her looking sad, after which she insisted she is doing “OK” despite her disappointment.“As you all know now, I don’t have a dance partner on Strictly Come Dancing this year,” she explained. “In the very, very beginning, when I just received the messages, it did upset me, and I did feel disappointed, you know?“Coming from China and arriving in this country, all I wanted is to achieve my dream, and Strictly has given me such a big platform to allow me to show my skills and show my talents. Of course, I felt, this year, left out.“But, I’m good. Because I’m still part of the Strictly family. And this year, you’ll possibly hear my voice more than ever, because I will keep all my energy to support all my Strictly family. I will be there cheering for them.”She also pointed out that not having a partner will mean she’ll be able to make more appearances on shows like It Takes Two and Morning Live, adding: “All of your kindness has meant the world to me, and I just want you all to know and send all my love to you.”View this post on InstagramA post shared by Nancy Xu (@nancy_xuxi)Gorka Márquez announced earlier this year that he would not have a Strictly partner due to his commitments as a judge on the Spanish version of the show, and it was later revealed that Neil Jones, Luba Mushtuk and Michelle Tsiakkas would join Nancy in not being paired up with a celebrity in 2025.All five of them will continue to appear in Strictly’s various group dances, though, many of which were pre-recorded earlier this year.Nancy Xu and Neil Jones dancing together during this year's Strictly Come Dancing launch showNikita Kuzmin had been paired up with Dani Dyer, but following the news she’s had to pull out of the show due to an injury, it’s not clear whether or not he will receive a new celebrity partner before the first live show airs on Saturday night.Nancy joined Strictly in 2019, and spent her first two years on the show without a partner. In the years since, she’s performed with CBBC presenter Rhys Stephenson, actor Will Mellor, TV personality Les Dennis and pop singer Shayne Ward. She also won Strictly’s annual Christmas special in 2023 alongside EastEnders performer Jamie Borthwick, and danced on last year’s festive episode with Gladiators star Harry “Nitro” Aikines-Aryeetey.Both Jamie and Nitro went on to join the main Strictly line-up after their strong performances in their respective Christmas specials.MORE STRICTLY:Strictly Fans Are Discovering That 1 Of This Year's Celebs Has More TV Dance Experience Than They RealisedDani Dyer Becomes Second Strictly Contestant Of The Series Forced To Withdraw On Medical GroundsShirley Ballas Reacts To Thomas Skinner Drama During Strictly Come Dancing Interview
