Taylor Swift Hits Back At 'Shockingly Offensive' Speculation About Her Engagement
Taylor Swift at last year's VMAsTaylor Swift has hit back at the “offensive” suggestion she’ll be hitting pause on her music career once she and her fiancé Travis Kelce tie the knot.Earlier this year, Taylor and Travis made headlines the world over when they announced they were engaged, and while Swifties were obviously overjoyed for their idol, others questioned what it could mean for future music, particularly as she’s an artist who has previously been so associated with heartbreak anthems. On Monday, the chart-topping singer made an appearance on Scott Mills’ Radio 2 breakfast show, where the host asked her: “Don’t tell me this is your last album?”When she responded with surprise, he explained: “I just saw some fans going, ’Well, she’s going to get married, and then she’s going to have children and…”“That’s a shockingly offensive thing to say,” the Shake It Off singer said. “It’s not why people get married, so they can quit their job.”She added: “I love the person that I am with because he loves what I do, and he loves how much I am fulfilled by making art and making music.“That’s the coolest thing about Travis. He’s so passionate about what he does that me being passionate about what I do, it connects. There’s no point in time where he’s going to be like, ‘I’m really upset that you’re still making music’. Imagine – ‘the music that I signed up for, that I knew you love, I thought you were going to stop doing that…’.”Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce pictured together in JanuaryDuring an interview with Graham Norton last week, Taylor said she was holding off planning her wedding until she was done with the promotion for her latest album The Life Of A Showgirl.“I’m doing the album thing now, which is a big thing,” she explained. “I think the wedding is what happens after that, in the scheme of planning. I’m so excited about it.”The Grammy winner continued: “I know it’s going to be fun to plan. I think the only stressful weddings are the ones where you have a small amount [of guests]? And you have to evaluate or assess your relationship with [people in your life], to see if they should be there. Yeah, I’m not going to do that.”The Life Of A Showgirl was released last week to a mixed response from fans and critics.Stand-out songs from Taylor’s new album include Wood, in which she alludes to her sex life with her new fiancé, and Actually Romantic, which is believed by many listeners to be a diss track aimed at fellow pop star Charli XCX.READ MORE:Here's Everything That's Gone Down Between Taylor Swift And Charli XCX After Diss Track Actually RomanticTaylor Swift Fans Voice Disappointment Over Alleged AI Use In Videos To Promote New AlbumGeorge Michael's Estate Reacts To Sample Featured On Taylor Swift's New Album
