The Celebrity Traitors Season 2: BBC Makes Official Update About Show's Future

Claudia Winkleman in the iconic Traitors castleIt’s definitely not an exaggeration to say that the inaugural series of The Celebrity Traitors left the whole nation reeling. With its unintentional abundance of comedy moments, jaw-dropping twists and turns and Alan Carr’s stint as possibly the best “Traitor” to ever do it (even if it wasn’t always intentional), the show had viewers hooked for weeks. So, there’s no greater entertainment joy to start the week than with the news that the BBC has finally made an official update about whether or not it’ll be back for a second series. Will The Celebrity Traitors get a season 2?We’re happy to say that yes, The Celebrity Traitors will be back for a new series in 2026, with a new gaggle of stars holing up in the famous Ardross Castle for another round of goodnatured backstabbing, challenges, and misspelt names on chalkboards. The BBC’s head of entertainment Kalpna Patel-Knight said on Monday: “The Celebrity Traitors has well and truly captivated the nation, becoming a bona fide highlight of the year bringing record numbers of people together to enjoy every twist and turn.“In 2026, the doors of the castle will be opened again to welcome celebrity players to the game to see who can charm, who can scheme and ultimately who can survive in series two which promises to be just as unmissable as the first.”The cast of The Celebrity Traitors' first seasonWhich stars have been rumoured to be on the Celebrity Traitors season 2 cast?Even before the BBC had the chance to confirm the show would be back, people had already started speculating about who could be next to arrive in Scotland for some celebrity scheming.Possible celebrities on the line-up include Bob Mortimer – who has said himself it’s the only kind of reality TV show he’d consider – as well as Gavin & Stacey star Ruth Jones and TV legend Danny Dyer.Last week, Alan Carr managed to pull off the Traitors move of all Traitors moves in the show’s finale, convincing remaining “Faithfuls” Nick Mohammed and David Olusoga that he was one of them to scoop the cash prize for his chosen charity. It was a twist made all the more enjoyable by the fact that Alan had come close unravelling on many occasions throughout the series thanks to his giggly “Faithful” slip-up and seemingly impossible missions to kill his fellow celebrities in plain sight. The Celebrity Traitors has been a roaring success, with its opening episode becoming the biggest single episode on TV so far this year with a whopping 14.8m views. Meanwhile, Thursday’s final was the highest overnight audience since last year’s Gavin & Stacey Christmas Day special.Something to give creator Ruth Jones even more food for thought…?READ MORE:All The Stars Who've Been Rumoured For The Celebrity Traitors Season 2 So FarNo One Could Have Predicted Just How Emotional The Celebrity Traitors Finale Would End Up BeingCelebrity Traitors Star Shares Alarming Truth Behind Celia Imrie's Infamous Fart Scene
